All wholly possible, but I think there is bound to be at least one 60s artist/band in there, maybe 2, so they may not headline pyramid but it's more than possible they will have significant slots, if they play.

people seem to be forgetting that it's not going to be as many ex-headliners from the past 40 years as they can get, it's going to be a selection of acts.

So, for example, from the first festivals it's likely to be the likes of Stackridge and Terry Reid - acts that are off the radar of very many people.

Two other names I've thought of:

Ash - supposedly releasing a single every month for the next year. (I don't like them, but there we go.)

JET - new album out in August. Possible? Would love to see them again - I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw them in Wolvo at the end of the Shine On tour.

Thoughts?

I'm also hoping for some well known Blues name - preferably a great Blues guitarist to play the Jazzworld like Buddy Guy did so well in 2008 (other than Clapton who I think would be an amazing headliner). Robert Cray? BB King? John Mayall? George Thorogood? Carl Weathersby?

Let's get some BLUES on for 2010.

he's not played live as far as I know since he had that heart attack (or whatever it was?) around five years back now, so unless he's up for doing a one-off at Glasto I think his appearance is hugely unlikely.

Pretty much any "I think x are headlining" posts are completely pointless as there is almost nothing to base them on.

.... except for Foo Fighters - there's defo info for them as possible headliners. Info we've received suggests that they're definitely being considered as possible future headliners (and have been for a while), tho from what I've heard Michael isn't totally convinced that they're the right sort of act as a Glastonbury headliner - he's been asking various randoms what they think about them maybe headlining.

I was there! I believe it was T in the Park 2004 and i think it was a minor stroke rather than a heart attack (although i could be wrong).

I'm with you though Neil - i think it's highly unlikely that we'll see him perform live again.

Sadly, I tend to agree. I saw him on his Reality tour and he and he band were excellent, especially Gail Ann Dorsey.

I think he played with David Gilmour for one song when Syd died a few years back. Since then, nothing.

I really don't understand this fascination with Metallica, really I don't. For me, it's been average at best pretty much since Puppets.

In the hugely unlikely event that they do go for some metal, I'd much prefer Iron Maiden to be honest. But it won't happen - and I'm not even sure I want it to happen.
