Unfortunately both the US and UK governments quite frequently commission reports on this kind of thing, and what they get back contains all kinds of very sensible recommendations. But they're recommendations which the Daily Mail / Fox News brigade would hate, so it all gets swept under the carpet and we stick with the broken status quo.

Did you read about the report into coke that the US Government commissioned from the World Health Organisation?

The WHO came back with a report which indicated that it wasn't a dangerous drug at all...

The US Goverment did not like this one bit.

They told the WHO to go away and come back with a *better* report, detailing how destructive and dangerous a drug it was to the fabric of civilised society.

Or they'd withdraw all of their funding.

So the WHO went away and did just that.

I think you should take a bit of time out to look at the bigger picture and take the blinkers off.
