In front of us in the crowd for Madness, was a fantastic family. Dad was obviously a massive Madness fan, and his wife and his two young teenage daughters obviously knew all the songs -- perhaps it's something they'd put on in the car on family trips?

For the uptempo tracks, Dad would dash off and dance with strangers. Instead of being embarassed by their dad, the kids grinned and filmed him.

During "It Must Be Love", Dad gave the whole family a huge hug. It raised a fair old lump in my throat.

i like madness,i enjoyed them, but i feel for the first half of the set, i dont think they really kept anyone's attention. i think they saved all the songs till last. but at one point i was going to go and leave. i dont know if its the new stuff or whatever or maybe its me?

I thought they were very good when they played one of their old stompers and got the crowd jumping, trouble is they played too much new stuff which not many had heard of unless you were a dedicated Madness fan and that tended to break the rythm. I know they're not a nostalgia band and are still jobbing outfit producing new material and records, however at Glasto I think the crowd just wants wall to wall classic Madness. They could have taken a leaf out of Status Quo books and stuck with the hits and got the crowd jumping from start to finish.

I loved it. I only went for convenience really but when I seen how much the crowd were into it, and they continue to rattle off classics that I only then realised I loved and were part of my childhood, I really came away thinking it was a great set. Suggs charisma between songs really stood out too.

I thought Madness were the highlight of a brilliant weekend (and so do some of the friends I was with).

I found myself singing and dancing to virtually every track. Maybe I'm showing my age, but for me they were just superb.

But probably wasnt as I only had one of the daughters with us.

Had such a great time when the Nutty Boys were on.

Took me right back to the early 80s, dancing in my loafers to those songs at the school disco in a little village hall in Somerset.

I've been trying to find some video coverage on the beeb as I'd love to see Kix Thompson flying around on that wire.

But cant find anything.

Anyone else found any coverage of their set ?

I thought it was a great set. They certainly didn't start with the new stuff. Embarassment was the second song. The Prince was quite early too. I suspect it's that you're only familiar with their most popular tracks (HoF, Baggy Trousers etc.), which did indeed come in the second half. That said, I'd be amazed if you could point out many artists over the weekend that didn't do that.

I thought Madness were pretty good, perfect Sunday afternoon stuff and much better than when they played Benicassim in '06, but then I was drinking a lot of Toffee Apple cider at the time!

Couldn't actually see the stage though, must have been one of the biggest crowds of the festival.

i cant believe this is actually being debated, they were absolutely awesome, i didnt stop dancing or smiling and i had some guy repeatedly kneeing me up the arse cos his stupid dance and i still loved it, they are a classic ENGLISH band!

The complete set was sheer class!

IMO Blur were the kings of the weekend, with Madness coming a Princely second (even ahead of my beloved Specials).
