Emily worry

M E has done a bang up job, E E has been trained by the best in the fine art of Festival-ling. If you have a problem with that then don't go. I think they are having a no Toss Pots policy in '12 so that may not be a problem for all you ney sayers. Should we just get this year over with first eh?

Have just been reading the announcment that Mr Eavis is stepping down after next years Glastonbury and handing it all over to Emily....http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/news/20090622_glastonbury.shtml

What do you think?...Myself i have a fear that it will all change,and not for the better, it was her who brought a HIP HOP Headliner in last year, i hope i'm not wrong but i do feel that she will not be good for the future of Glastonbury.

:lol::D:lol::(:D

Well this is my last year and luckily that coincides nicely with Michael finishing with his involvement..Have read how they go about picking acts and its worrying how much of an influence Emily will wield from now on....it would appear to me that she's an "industry head" meaning you're gonna get mostly UK acts for most of the pyramid/headline slots....and the UK music scene is pish at the moment.

I'd disagree.

Neil Young is one of the most influential musicians working today - a man who's been a major influence in music for almost 50 years, form his beginnings in the protest music alongside Bob Dylan, to working with Pearl Jam in the 90s, his contribution cannot be understated.

Bruce Springsteen is a musician with over 30 years of experience, critically acclaimed for both his Stadium Rock and his quieter, acoustic albums.

Blur are one of the prime movers of 90s Britpop, their music pretty well sums up that period. Damon and Graham's post-blur careers have been well recieved by just about everyone and have seen them move through several different genres and styles.

By contrast.

Jay-Z is a rapper who sounds a bit like all the other rappers out there - yes he certainly has stage presence and sold a lot of records, but I doubt whether we'll still remember him 20 years on, let alone getting any critical acclaim him for pushing himself musically as the others have.
