note to self, dont camp with UEF

In my last 2 years of festivals I've had:

1) phone and wallet stolen from Isle of Wight whilst asleep

2) dropped wallet on the side of the long drops, came back 5 mins later to find cash removed (ffs lost property was next door)

3) someone come in my glasto tent last year and rip the zips apart (padlocked together)

Its growing, in my experience

What may have gone down are reported incidents due to people getting used to it, not incidents themselves.

Can't see why people do this (well I can see why they do it) more how they can do it, ruining someone's week just for some extra cash, anyway the question being does it happen a fair bit?

Just a thought, but i wonder if robbing will be up again this year due to unemployment being up?

Lessons for people to learn from this...

Sleep in some shorts with zip pockets. Put your wallet and mobile phone in the zip pockets. No one is getting them without waking you up. They wont even bother to try...

Never padlock a tent.. It wont stop anyone getting in and will leave you with a wrecked tent for the rest of the fest... Also shows you have something to hide...

To be fair it is possible to get the wrong tent if your hammered

My uncle got his wallet stolen form inside his tent last year, but he was very drunk at the time and left it right by the door bit, someone must have seen the state he was in and taken the opportunity.

Yeah as others have said, get to know the people around you and just leave any unnecessary items at home, there's no point risking it being stolen.

Thankfully am in a big circle at my camp site this year, so there will always be someone up just in case anything happens.

Please remember everyone that the chances of thieves coming around your area and robbing tents is still relatively small. What's more the chances of you and your neighbours getting robbed twice is substantially lower.

For this reason I intend to rob all the tents around me on the first night. Not only will this dramatically reduce my chance of getting robbed, but it should also give me a bit of extra spending money.

properly munted i've done this , after accusing the people inside of robbing my tent.

they politley informed me that we had met earlier, and my tent was infact next to theirs.

I like the approach at one of the old bulldog bash events. They managed to catch a tent theif, and threw him off the stage into the crowd Let them deal with him

Don't worry everyone, i won't be thieving at Glasto. I steal all year round but when Glasto comes around i seem to just naturally stop; its my scapegoat, my pass into the beautiful mysterious and magical realm that is Glasto, away from the harsh realities of a life in crime.

But watch out because as soon as Glasto has finished i'll be back to normal, mugging old women and stealing blankets from prams.

I'm currently openly stealing red lighters, I have every intention of continuing this at said festival, however I doubt I will be entering peoples tents to do so so you should be safe.
