This Years Park Special Guests

Yep!

And Yep again.............well maybe on this one............

I reckon the Tony & the Js and De La Soul leaks on some of the line ups points to 2 of the slots being these guys, the same way N.E.R.D will play the pyramid on Friday as the "Special" Guests. I reckon that all 3 could not 100% confirm but will do and as such they will fill the "Special Guest" slots......Also Glasto love having something for us to go on about, so why tell us everything.........?..........This is all part of it.......

As for Placebo...........Well from certian reports they were just about nailed on so they may be the Saturday night Special guest in the Park with the above 2 playing the Friday slots........Placebo are big enough for Emily to say what she said, but not that big that they actually will cause an incident!!.........There will be no "MASSIVE" act in the park im afraid......ME nearly finished Glasto after the Roskilde incident so to tempt faith and have a "Radiohead", "Coldplay", "U2" play the Park would be silly..............

So..........

  • Slot 1 Fri, 6th from top - De La Soul

  • Slot 2 Fri, 4th from top - Anthony and the Js

  • Slot 3 Sat, 3rd from top - Placebo

And on the Pyramid Stage on Fri, 5th from top........N.E.R.D.

Watch and see............ :)

Method 1: The festival has it own radio station (usally down the 88 end of the FM spectrum), so take a small radio with you. I listen to mine when I'm getting up in the morning (brew up, strip wash, getting dressed etc, at least half an hour but usually closer to an hour ). If for nothing else, I have gone to catch an act I have never considered previously on the strenght of a record or even a session played in the morning.

Method 2: Daily Paper, its for the best price (free) You get it from the Infomation booths (they also hand out ear plugs, condoms, sells t-shirts etc). Anything that misses the print run, winds up on the radio.

Method 3: Flyers handed out. keep an eye out for them.

Awhile ago in an interview Micheal let slip he had been on the phone to Radioheads people whiled planning this festival its possible Thom York would do a solo set, if not a full Radiohead set

Second paragraph

Placebo have been heavily touted as playing but haven't appeared anywhere yet.

Libs would be on for a slot if they could cobble something together

Kanya West said he would perform with Mr Hudson and I don't see him doing that on an opening slot

Faith No More are festival tied for publicity but an unannounced slot isn't past them

Skunk Anansie have reformed and tour later in the year (Yes please Mr Eavis sir!)

Dunno. don't care. but at bloody last there is some interesting banter over who is playing

De La Soul

Placebo

The Pixies

The last one is a long shot but I don't see how the others can't be on after both being confirmed at one stage, then disappearing from the schedule.

I seriously hope it's De La. 20th anniversary og 3 Feet High... would suggest it is more than a possibility.

the park stage lineup this year is complete tosh except for the Animal Collective and what looks like some Fela Kuti celebration gig thingy, problem is they clash with Neil Young and Blur so wont be there

So these special guests better be good because the park is one my favourite places and i would like to be there alot

Sort it out Emily, i still haven't forgiven her for cutting Battles gig to 4 songs last year

i haven't read the whole thread but some of the bands people are suggesting are going to be dead off. the special guests are going to be bands that are playing outside of the their normal touring cycles (ala Franz Ferdinand last year), new bands and collaborations not ready for a high profile slot yet (Shadow Puppets last year), or other sets from bands already playing the festival

its not going to be someone like Placebo etc... as if they were playing would want a proper slot.

the thom york solo thing comes up every year, could happen but I doubt it as the eraser was released some time ago. radiohead on the otherhand, maybe acoustic is a possibility as I think they are likely to be the "fourth headiner" and couldnt play in the end due to R&L. same goes for coldplay and their stadium shows.

could also be the new jack white band

not sure if i'v missed out somthing obvious, but from what i'v read it sounds like there will be one "huge" band at the park, (or so i'v read). so do we know what day it will be? if it turned out to be radiohead or the pixies or somone great it'd ruin my weekend if i missed it!

Of course it could be another Kerrang-championed band beginning with M.

A band who love playing European festivals, and whose drummer is on record as saying they would like to play Glasto as it's one of the few UK festivals they have never played.

PLUS - they have played secret/unnanounced festival gigs before.

Playing in Rome on the Wednesday (24th) and nothing for glasto w/e ?

MMMMMMMMMMM - who could it be ?!?!?!?

i really hope it is, i'm so gutted about missing them in london - they're playing here the weds night of glasto

i'm so surprised they're not on the line-up - the glastonbury sized gap in their schedule is very suspect. maybe Jack just enjoyed the 'surprise guest' aspect of playing with the Last Shadow Puppets last year, so wanted to do it again with the Dead Weather. *hopes*

Hopeful - but The Libertines maybe?

Its the same slot that Pete Doherty was supposed to be playing and he is now booked for about an hour before on the other stage.

Working at the Park again this year so will be able to find out when there, which is nice.

Klaxons or Vampire Weekend (as they don't seem to be on the lineup) would be my other guesses.
