I think that it was moved, partly because of the economical climate, and because there are so many new things that are really taking off wwhich may require more room (e.g. trash city). Shame tho, had many a mad night in there ;)

its gonna be sorely missed by a lot of people i think, but im sure that wont matter when we're all there :D

I seem to remember that there has been a 'falling out' between Leftfield and the Glasto organisers.

nope, that wasn't it. I forget the exact details, but it was all related to funding I think.

Glasto did a review of all its financials after the near financial disaster they had last year, so that if they found themselves in the same situation with all the tickets not sold then they'd be able to financially survive.

I have a feeling that the financial viability of Left Field was (at least in part) calculated against it's bar sales, and while Glasto was I think willing to have it back, they weren't offering the same financial terms, which Leftfield didn't think workable.

It was something like that anyway. There's a thread here somewhere with fuller details.

I'm actually sad (and a little ashamed) to say that in the three years I've been to Glastonbury, I've never ventured to the Leftfield tent. It really is a shame, because I wouldn't consider myself particularly left-wing (certainly not economically - maybe a little left-wing socially), but the type of stuff on at the Leftfield stage is really what the spirit of Glastonbury is all about & I have a lot of respect for it.

I can't say I will miss it as I never went, but I am kicking myself for never going :D

There's quite a sadly poetic irony to the Leftfield stage being removed from Glastonbury for purely capatilst reasons. Even Glastonbury cannot escape the free market economy

Even the Unions behind the running of Leftfield can't escape the market economy.
