The Sunday Dance Act

Obviously we all know that it's a mini-tradition for a big dance act to close the other stage. However, as everybody can see the booking for the headline spots, and the slot directly below, on the Other Stage is actually becoming incredibly tight; all very much in the mix are:

Franz Ferdinand

Bloc Party

Kanye West

Placebo

Glasvegas

The Ting Tings

Pendulum

The Streets (I don't fancy them on the Pyramid on that already-packed Friday)

Surely, among all these names (many of who might well expect to headline) there can't be room for a big dance act as well? Or perhaps Kanye won't be there at all (shock horror), or Placebo will go to the John Peel to headline instead? A little look on the myspace tells us that Pendulum are playing the Saturday night, not the Sunday, so it can't be them.

I personally wonder whether Royksop may be around in this slot; but do people think that they're an apporopriate addition? Are they well known enough? Or will the Progidy be around?

is there anyone who aid me in this clogged up mental working? And arrange that into some form of comphrenhensible structure......

It will not be Groove Armada

Faithless , Orbital and Chemicals , I cannot see it !

Basement Jaxx and Prodigy are the two favourites , both are active at the mo , but they may

go with Kanye as the Dance Act. So I reckon the dance act will be one of them 3

:D

Placebo

Glasvegas

The Ting Tings

None of those bands could headline the Other Stage.

The Streets

Playing on the friday and didn't somebody say it was likely to be on the pyramid?

Prodigy

Fairly sure Neil ruled them out.

Franz Ferdinand

Bloc Party

Kanye West

Pendulum

Most likely headliners, but there's 4 of them. I reckon it's cause Kanye isn't playing and never was. I hope I'm wrong but people do seem to be clinging onto a very old and not very good rumour.

I don't think it will be Basement Jaxx, they are busy on the Saturday, of course this makes the Friday and Sunday possible but it makes it less likely.

The Prodigy have a gap around the Glasto weekend, but I just think we would have heard something if they were going to play. We know nearly all of the major acts now, so for The Prodigy to come out of nowhere would be a surprise.

I still think it will be Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, Kanye West. There won't be a dance act but BP and KW have electronic elements in their music.

I'm hoping for The Prodigy though.

Well, I can't see Pendulum warming up for the boss, so either they're playing the dance tent or one of these rumours is wrong.

Was it down to Howlett slagging Eavis off in the 90s or something?

I'd have thought everyone would've grown up by then, they are literally playing every festival with a shred of reputation,

Why would they just leave the biggest one? They're having a massive resurgence at the moment too, I'd have just thought one would've approached the other.

Royksopp are nowhere near big enough. Even at their peak they played second top twice. Conversely, Pendulum are way too big for the Dance Village, I reckon they'll be second top on the Other (so before Franz Ferdinand).

Royksopp are big enough, have recently released third major album, and would be perfect as a closing dance act on Sunday. Whether they will or not.. well I guess we'll just have to wait for the line-up..

    • This basically!, it's about as clear as day they'll be there.
    • Yeah there is no down time, I'm still tired and over thinking from last weeks work. A big reality check this week. If you just do it for the money you always will.

    • Robbie Williams would fit with the current state of the legend’s slot, and he’d bring the house down.
