if everyone just steers clear of licking pigs and any other pig related frivolity Im sure we will be fine :)

actually, it could be far worse than that. According to the BBC, in Mexico they've been making major footy matches play behind closed doors because large gatherings are banned.

If something similar happens in the UK, that'd be the end of the festival season. :)

They don't need to mention swine/pig flu to be profiteering from it, the name of that medication is all over the news so the seller knows that people will be looking for it.

Anyone who pays £400 for medication to an eBay seller with 0 F/B who registered today deserves what they get though.

One of my mates goes out with a pig, should he be worried? On a positive not they don't go out in public together that much. Poor Jed I thought he'd learned his lesson after the Daisy Incident and now this!

On a serious note, this is, potentially a big deal globally and what Niel said half in jest could turn out to ring true. Not just for festivals but all large public events. A little digging reveals that strict airport controls, low level confirmed UK incidence (a positive thing considering the UK serves as a world wide air travel hub) A hopefully soon to be well informed public and the comfort of advanced Northern European medical strategies already (supposedly) in place to deal with bird flu (there are several vaccines available though none may be totally effective) and also, most positively, the world health organisation and government agencies being just a little wide of the mark recently with regard to similar potential pandemics, we should be okay.

Just in case, I will be one of the many donning Altern8 fancy dress. Worthy Farm could end up looking like the final scenes from ET this summer.

Price of pork will probably drop when the ignorant stop buying it for fear of catching flu from it.

Shouldn't be so quick to dismiss the potential threat though, after all it only killed 50 million people last time (1918)! With a larger World population and more international travel, it could be far worse than then. Shame the media cloud the issue and desensitise us to it with all the BS they publish.

i hate to be all serious but the use of a face mask like that over the weekend would make you more suceptible to disase than normal. They are beneficial to prevent spread for around 3 hours. After that they become moist and actually add to spread. Due to this the UK governement would not actually give these out like the mexican government are.

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
