And as far the guy asking if it could still be the Cure. The simple answer is no. Even if ive got it all wrong and Jamie T isn't headlining (which he is) it most definantly isn't the Cure. I don't get why people can't see just how big the Cure are. Headline the second stage? They would headline any main stage in this country.

I'm a huge Cure fun but that last point simply doesn't appear to be true these days. They are still a big band but they have trouble headlining British festivals (They are far bigger in the rest of Europe), I for one would love for them to headline festivals around the UK but the fact is that they haven't headlined a big UK festival since Glasto 1995. They headlined Move in 2004 but that isn't comparable to Reading and Leeds or Glasto.

They've wanted to do Glasto since then but Eavis told them that they were no longer wanted and that their live performances had been shocking. I do agree that they probably would never headline a second stage (Roberts Ego is too big for a start) but I was working on some of the evidence that has been presented. The NME stage looks very weak with Florence/Jamie T/Friendly Fires, a lot of room for a HUGE band to go at the top and make it a lot better looking.

Thing is though, have they played lower than headline anywhere recently?

There headlining Coachella alongside Paul McCartney and the Killers for starters. Yes I know, different popularity in different countries etc, but even so.

2nd stage at Glasto or even V where there massive outdoor stages (apparently Glasto's 2nd stage is the very same stage used as Reading's main stage, though im not sure if thats just a myth) would be a stretch IMO.

In the tent? Sorry, but it just would not happen.

Surely if he wasn't headlining the stage they'd have put a "Special Guests" or some other phrase above Jamie T to get people wondering who it could be so I'd be incredibly surprised if he isn't the headliner.

Popularity is definitely there to be a headliner as well as the NME tent was completely full and spilling over towards the Lock Up/Dance Stage during his set in 2007 (3rd or 4th down on the Sunday I think at Reading).

But that was two years ago, and although I don't listen to the radio much, I think his hype has died down a lot since then.

I think (and very very much hope) he isn't headlining because of the following...

1. The original announcement had Gossip and Glasvegas in bold, who later turned out to be headliners, makes sense.

2. He has never been confirmed, or even mentioned (in NME, L/R offical site, etc), as headlining the stage despite him being included in the initial line-up announcement.

3. The rock sound article had an interview with the main booker for R/L and he said there's still 2 big rock acts to be announced for the NME/R1 stage (LP being one).

4. Offspring are free on the Friday and Sunday, and are only across the channel on the Saturday :)

5. Offspring need to play :):)

6. Preferably with Weezer slotted in below them :):):P

Its starting to piss me off that on every topic everybody is finding a way to complain about Jamie T headlining no matter what the topic is about. So please read this before you do, and if you disagree with me, then complain away.

Please read this:

http://www.rocksound.tv/features/article/r...tival-interview

Part of the answer to the second question is "but once we announce the Lock-Up Stage and announce TWO Radio 1 stage headliners that are both huge rock acts people will see how rounded it is"

Thats TWO headlining acts that needed to be announced. At the time of the interview, only the Gossip and Glasvegas had been announced as joint headliners. This meant two more to be announced, i.e. Lost Prophets and one more! Jamie T was already on the line up at this stage, and had not been announced as a NME headliner so cannot be one of the two that were still going to be announced. It is a reliable source as for a start its with the guy that books all the bands, secondly, he basically stated that Lost Prophets would be playing in the final answer, and look what has come true, they are!

Apart from all that, Jamie T is nowhere near big enough to Headline NME, is not a rock act like promised, and nobody would be stupid enough to allocate him a NME headlining spot (nobody, even the same guy that has booked Bloc Party three years in a row).

The only reason Jamie T is up there is because they wanted to put it into the Proper Line Up format on the poster given that two of the three NME headliners had been announced. They couldnt exactly put up two sets of bands then just leave the sunday (for leeds) bands across the bottom in a line.

If anybody disagrees with this, please state why (and if your right i will probably cry). Apart from that, can everybody please keep this bumped, so that people will refrain from whining in everybody elses topics.
