Flags for Glasto 2009

Hi all,

I'm really sorry if this flag has already been meantioned; but I'm in work and haven't got time to read all 16 pages! lol

The flag that I can remember is the "Text Me" flag I think it has been there for a couple of years? Its orange and it has "Text Me .. (and a number)"

My mates and I text it a couple of times, cant remember what we said (wrecked).

I was just wondering, who receives the text's?

Is it actually the person carrying the flag?

Or the persons mate; who couldnt make it to Glasto?

Or does the person leave the mobile in the house and then read them when he'she gets back? ;)

As you an tell, I'm intrigued by this flag! ;)

If its there this year, I might go & ask the person carrying it! ;)

Gx

i must admit I clicked on this thread as something of a flag skeptic but I'm very impressed by the work put in by everyone

some folk on here are genuinely talented - who'd have though it  and i'm looking forward to trying to spot all your flags dotted around the site

i don't have an artistic bone in my body, and im firmly in the camp who thinks national flags are a bit naff at festivals, so i wont have a marker for my tent. just gonna have to try and remember where the hell it is

gotta say i am a fan of flags, I think they're so useful for finding your tent , helps me no end! without it id just be walking round in circles, so many tents and gazebos, all look the same, flags help to make yours stand out - or if you camp near someone with a distinctive flag can also be useful as a 'marker':)

as to people walking round carrying them, fair enough if you want to - i see nothing wrong with it, and i quite like seeing flags being waved around in amongst the crowd tbh :O

    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
