Sam.
My mate is adamant that you can take alcohol from campsite into the music arena? I'm adamant that that is untrue. Please someone, settle this dispute.

Sam.
Then I guess that would make my friend right then! Does that mean we can walk around with like big drums of cider and use them as chairs too? And not get hassled for not buying the alcohol from bars? johntrfc
what arena?, what campsite? Glastonbury is one big site, once through the superfence everything is in one place, no queing each morning to get in ala reading/leeds
webstl
One of the great things about Glastonbury is that there is not a "music arena" once your in your free to do whatever wherever. Unlike Reading/ Leeds/ V/ Lots of other festivals. So yeah you can take your booze where you like )
Sam.
Cheers for the fast response guys! I'm being a tad miserable about the potential headliners, but it seems Glastonbury is full of great people so not too sad!

irons
Sam, you've haven't been to many festivals have you? Take as much drink as you like and just wonder around drinking it, in camp or at the tents/stages. Only rule is that you don't bring bottles. irons
Haha I've been to Leeds o2 Wireless (not too shabby, but not on the same scale as G by a million miles.) Wakestock, which was even smaller, and V, which... Well, it was less than average! I'm gonna disappear now, swat up on the info page and I'll come back when I'm not such an annoying newbie! CrunchyFrog
In 2007 I remember going to get a coffee, not the instant variety but a lovely freshly made from beans kinda coffee... got out a couple of quid to pay and the guy serving said "You've not been to Glastonbury before have you?" and of course I hadn't, didn't know it showed! He said "This isn't Reading... it's Glastonbury.... that'll be 50p please" And for me that says it all, you know when there are 100,000 people in a field you're a captive market and some places take full advantage of that. I just didn't get that feeling at Glastonbury. Like the chap said............ it's not like any other festival. When we left I had this strange feeling that we had been in a different country. I can't wait to go back!

dvjj
Glastonbury is like the land for the free!!! Do what you like when you like (within reason) take as much booze as you think you can drink put up your tent and then bimble!!
Josie's Cat
That just about sums up the experience for me. Its almost as if you leave the world and then 5 days later are pulled back in again. Reading and for that matter a lot of other festivals, never manage to capture that sense of distance from the outside world.
MieleBee
Only one I have been to that sounds like it has the same "private universe" feeling about it is Boom in Portugal. Goes on for a week up in the central Portugese mountains, around a lake. it's fantastic.
