Looking at the Primavera Sound line-up - what do we reckon the chances of these bands being added to RaR:

Sonic Youth

My Bloody Valentine

Ladyhawke

Black Lips

Throwing Muses

?

And how about Pendulum?

Or just a frigging announcement of some kind?

you'll just have to find mine or squig's tent when there is not much good on

Just a quick one, does anyone know of a german pay as you go (pre pay) sim card that offers cheap data usage? Like prehaps €20 for unlimited usage all month would be ideal, else just cheap data rates as most are about €6 per MB

No expert on German sims. The big companies are T-Mobile, Vodafone, E-Plus and O2, you may wanna check them out first. But that isn't to say that there aren't smaller companies who may have an offer that suits you better.

Love the way someone can say 'i hate ....' so the crowd boo'd one year because trent was not up to par? I mean i am not a 'talica fan, but i didnt boo during their peformance. To get a BAD reception at RAR he must have done something wrong. Christ in 2007 30 seconds to mars were not great vocally, but they sure put on a show......

It goes a bit deeper than that. He played RaR and there were lots of people who weren't NIN fans but watched his music nevertheless. Appearantly his perception was that everybody was very drunk and was only there to be drunk and didn't care about the music at all. I am sure that is covered by some articel if you google for it.

Was trying to work out the shuttle/bus timetables on the RaR site, and can't work out when the last ones leave...

Any veterans that can comment on the departing times for the shuttles to Koblenz?

I had only thought, going by just the timetables, that the last one left at midnight, but that would just SUCK!!!

Reading and trying to translate as i go, there's something there that says like 4am!? (http://www.rock-am-ring.com/shuttlebusse.html)

NIN are still on tour in the USA at the time RaR takes place. Squig, NIN have never played at RaR. Dunno why, I wouldn't take Trent's banter about the festival too seriously. He's stated over and over again how much he hates festivals in general, yet still he plays them everytime he comes to Europe.

And they are doing quite a few this year too! As Apu says though they don't get to Europe till mid-June so they are definitley out for RaR.

So as we're not getting an announcement of any kind until the end of the week lets focus on the positive that everyone agrees on: The campsite! What can I expect from the drunken antics then? What makes it so good? Also any good tips on making friends with the neighbours (bearing in mind I can barely speak German - although I will bring a phrase book!)?

Bring beer. And green and red stuff (JoshBosh knows what I am talking about ;-) ). Try to make a drinking game contest involving British and German games. You are settled.

Oh, if you hear someone scream 'Flunkyball', get your mates and half a liter of beer each in a can and run to that direction and request to join the game.

Dont be afraid to ask someone if they speak English

Green and red stuff i took was Micky Finns, im taking at least a bottle for every day this year. I need to get a job first, money is running out, but the trip and equipment is dirt cheap, so i dont need to spend that much.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
