It's something I wonder about. If they allowed ticketmaster to sell 5,000 tickets purely to the highest bidder a week after the seetickets general sale, how much they would go for? The tickets wouldn't have any privileged access, they will be just standard camping tickets like all the others sold at standard prices the week before. All proceeds go to charity. The numbers of these tickets being such a small percentage of the total meaning the overall demographic of the festival won't be much different, especially ads the tickets are the same as all the others. Sell 5,000 at £1,000 compared with standard price of £300 each would mean another £3.5 million to good causes....

I think most of us were part of that 25% once, I think I was 18 years or so ago to be honest. I can't remember how bothered we were about getting tickets, we were probably part of the "always wanted to go there but never tried group" but once we got there we became anotther of the obsessives, it just blew our mind, and have loved it ever since. I don't have any issues with the 25% who don't put any effort in the first time, some will become the obsessives of the future, hopefully it will blow their mind like it did with me all this years ago, they will either become obsessives like most on these forums or just cross it off the list of things they have done, and not return. It would be interesting to know how many contributors to these forums haven't ever actually been to Glasto before, I bet there a isn't a huge number

That's what we are all doing, we all want to improve our chances any way we can to get a ticket over everyone else, no-one really wants a fair system of getting tickets unless they are OK with only going every 5 years, which noone will be, we are all unlitmately selfish as we want to go and go out of our way to load the deck in our favour!

That's the big unknown, no-one knows how many people are genuinely trying, or would try if they thought they had a chance of getting a ticket. One in 5 chance equates to 700,000 trying, do you think its even higher than that? I am not sure that demand is much higher than that, there just aren't that many people missing out I don't think reading social media and these forums, appreciating that these forums are full of obsessives who are more likely to be succesful due to their commitment and knowledge of the system and tips for bagging a ticket.

Absolutely, that is the horrible reality of a truly fair/ballot system, if it was absolutely fair then the chances are you would only go one in every five years really, and I am not sure if anyone really wants that. I think Glasto want Glasto obsessives and regulars to have a slight better chance than anyone else, the regulars and large groups are part of what gives the festival its vibe, I am not sure if the atmosphere would be quite the same if everyone were newbies, and whether those newbies would carry on going, unless they were part of a larger group. I think glasto are OK with the current system, they get a good mix of newbies and regulars

The one thing I would prefer would be if the process wasn't so quick! If the system was a bit slower and took 8 hours to sell out, then I would happily spend all 8 hours trying rather than give up after an hour or so. That would really reward commitment and perseverence for those really desperate to go

I would be a lot more demoralised if I logged on to Ticketmaster to find I was 400,000 in the queue at 9am and then have to wait there as the number goes down for the next hour or two before being told it had sold out, which is what happens with a lots of their popular gigs these days. Like last year, I didnt get a ticket in the main sale this year, last year I managed to bag some in the resale. Still prefer this method, it does encourage a lot of determination and commitment, even though it it is really brutal/cruel for many. Not as down as I would have been in previous years as I know there is the resale in April which a lot of people also managed to get tickets in this year, so hope is very much not lost A ballot or queue system would also mean you would probably only go one every 3 or 4 years on average, if you assume 500,000 people trying (as an example, nonone really knows how many people want to go, they of tern quote 2 million registrations but you dont know how many of them are actually trying to get tickets) That thought is even more terrifying, it shows you that the people who live for the festival and truly committed stand a much better change than everyone else, (I have managed to get tickets every year since 2005) I know thats probably selfish but I think I try harder than a lot of people to get tickets because I want to go more than a lot of people (not all of course)

Not sure if it helps but i always use as many devices and ifferent networks as possible, so one over WiFi and others on as many different 4g networks/ as possible and have one connect to work network if you can. If you have more than one computer coneect one to your mobile 4g via a WiFi hotspot, if the speed of that connection s OK, my mobile phone speed is faster than my home broadband. Do broadband speed tess on all the connections so know which ones you can rely on tomorrow Open as many tabs and different browsers as you can but still see them all on the screen at the same time so can notice if any individual tab changes. Don't over fill the screen, in case you miss it if one changes. Have one device where you're hammering F5 rather than waiting for it to auto refresh every 20 seconds. Try and refresh the other devices but you might want to leave them to auto fresh so you can concentrate on one device.

Make sure you login to your laptop/computer today and make sure it works OK, you don't want any Windows updates tomorrow! And it's fully charges up And check you have enough money on your credit card/bank account today. Have all the details, reg numbers and post codes, then your card details Inc expiry and CVC code, so you don't faff around for them if you get to the right pages. Or use process above re shortcuts or have then in a spreadsheet/document where you can copy and paste them in. They will be in the order reg1, post code1, reg2 postcode 2, etc. That's all you need on that page, then the payment page will appear

Yeah, I was really surprised the tickets started at £52, I was thinking at would be over £75. I wasnt sure about paying over £70 having seen them so many times before, but my eldest wanted to go, so though I would take him. As they were only £52 I got tickets for the wife and other son as well!

Standing was £79.75, seats then £52.25, £79.75 or £99 in norwich

Just bagged 4 tickets for Norwich, got the cheapest seating tickets, only £52! (not resticted view either)

Glasto don't seem to do 80s retro, a real shame in my opinion, not too sure why. It would be brilliant to have the likes of OMD, Numan, Foxx, Human League, etc. They would all go down an absolute storm at the farm. Some of these sound as good as they did 40 years ago especially OMD, a brilliant live band still going strong these days

I've often wondered what would happen if Glasto had an auction one year and tickets were sold to the 138,000 highest bidders, just how much they would sell for, what would be the lowest winning bid, and how much money Glasto could make from it all. No idea about the highest, but what do you reckon the lowest winning bid would be, £300-£350? I suppose it would be a bit higher then the current price of a ticket, on the basis there are a lot more than 138,000 willing to pay that amount already ... and also wonder how shit the festival would be that year!

Probably just luck, but just went straight in via seetickets and bagged 4 tickets for 1st June in Manchester. Still 200000 in the queue for ticketmaster

I went to see them (and London Grammar) at Wembley on Tuesday and it was one of the most jaw dropping gigs I have ever been to, spectacular in every way, the wrist band stuff was amazing as was the music and the energy of Chris Martin, I am not sure how he does it after 20 years Seen them quite a few times, including Glasto 2005, always put on an incredible show, but nothing like Tuesday's gig. Took the family who had never seen them and they thought it was the best gig they had ever been to, especially my 13 and 16 year old boys. Bought the cheap seats for £70 (which I didnt think was too bad for a stadium gig) on the front row of the top tier, and probably had the best view as you could see the lights across the whole stadium and the fireworks. Real family friendly crowd pleasing stuff, hit after hit after hit ... I did think the encore fell a bit flat though to be fair. No idea why they feel the need to bring on a special guest (we had Natalie Imruglia doing Torn and Summer Nights as a ONJ tribute), it just didn't work for me after what went on before. They then only had one bit hit, Fix You, left to play, so some people were starting to leave before the end which was a shame. Needed a couple of belters to finish off with, not Biutyful Still had an absolutely fantastic time, priceless family memories made, we will be talking about it for years to come

Depends what "bigger" means? Biggest crowd or best gig? They aren't really comparable, they are different audiences, the Other headliner will be hip and trendy with the cool kids, the Pyramid sub will normally be a crowd pleaser (National excepted!). Elbow have subbed Pyramid god knows how many times, but they would get a really small crowd I think if they headlined Other. I think it's also to do with the time of day, a Pyramid sub will have the sun starting to go down, the Other headliner will mainly be in the dark which dictates the sort of acts who will work at each

Human League would be awesome, as would OMD
