  1. I had Monday off as was on stag do over the weekend....ended up mowing my lawn in shorts and t-shirts now I'm pulling my winter jacket out of the cupboard again!
  2. Great news (see my last post! 😄 )
  3. I think its jumped about over the years. One of my friends got it in 2015 and it was the rail station. One of my other friends is on it this year and lives near the rail station so is praying it isn't at the Madjeski Stadium!
  4. Sort of done three festivals solo...ish. Reading Festival 2014 None of my friends were bothered about going, and I got offered a guest ticket via someone I knew at the last minute on the cheap. Had some friends who were working there, but I camped in the guest area on my own. I basically spent the Friday afternoon, all of Saturday, and Sunday daytime on my own, was fine, did my own thing at my own pace, watched what I wanted, napped when I wanted etc etc, but like a few others have said a few times I did find myself a little lack of someone to bounce off of, struck up conversation with the guy next to me during the Arctic Monkeys headline set on the Saturday night which was nice and the people camped next to me eventually twigged I was on my own and I sat round their fire that night. Was fine but I'm someone who quite enjoys being with others so I did look forward to meeting my friends who were working there when it allowed. Glastonbury 2019 Failed miserably in getting tickets, some friends I knew were going, and so I found other avenues to get in. Wound up working for Shelter/Avalon Events on the Stonebridge bar. Got myself down to Bristol on the Monday night and stayed in the Ibis hotel right next to the departure point, and struck up conversation with a guy from Gloucester i n the hotel bar who was in the exact same boat as me (other friends going, no ticket, will work instead etc) so we sort of stuck together after that. Camped with him, but we were on different bars so I was on my own again and I struggled to make friends not sure why...most people were a bit cliquey in their own groups perhaps? The bar managers were really friendly though and I chatted to them a bit as they were more around my age. Met up with my own friends a lot of the rest of the time, but was nice each morning to do everything at my own pace and go where I wanted. Spent most of Saturday daytime on my own chilling which I enjoyed, but not sure if I could do a full 5 days down there on my own. Pilton Party 2019 Again, I wanted to go, no one else did so just booked on my own. Drove down to Ashcombe Park and pitched up...got chatting to the group next to me who were all from Surrey but had moved to Somerset a few years earlier. they were nice and chatty but once more of their mates turned up they didn't say much to me (!) Inside I was just on my own, tried striking up conversation a couple of times but didn't seem to get very far but as it was only for one night I wasn't too bothered. Went up the Tor the following morning then drove home!
  5. I think in fairness our driver in 2015 was trying to get on everything he could as obviously no one wants stuff just left lying on the street. Some people had brought extra beer, camping chairs etc and those were left till last so he could see if he could fit anymore on...he got a lot of it on but IIRC there were a few crates and some camping chairs left behind. No matter how many times people are told via email or whatever some people will always bring too much, me and my mate were lucky as another friend of ours was staying in CV East so he took our beer and camping chairs for us to ease the load on the way down, we just met him Weds afternoon to collect it. He radioed in to his management to say it had been left and for someone from their company to go and pick it up once we were on our way.
  6. How can you forget 2007 that was the worst of the lot.

    Pre-erected

That farm is quite a distance from the site!
  8. Think it’s one on the Weds and one on the thurs
  9. When I last went it was 6.30am on the Weds, but we left late at around 7am.
  10. Just looked it up - 2015! must have been very last minute as they recorded stuff backstage for the BBC on-site earlier that day
  11. Why don't you come on the Weds night/Thurs and then Mrs B then arrives via train or however on the Friday when she wants to?
  12. What does she want to do? This is why I love the fact my girlfriend hates festivals and lets me go off and do what I please at them, I just tell her my departure and return times. 😄
  13. I've never stayed in the CV fields, but some friends of mine did in 2017 and only wanted to come to the main part of the festival (!) and travelled down on the Friday afternoon. They were pitched right at the back which meant going back and forth was quite a long trek in itself to Ped gate C before they had even gone anywhere inside the festival, although it did make for a quick getaway on the Monday morning! If it was me I'd personally try to get the van on site as early as possible even if you weren't staying in it. Is there scope to come on the Weds evening or Thurs AM and then leave Sunday night post-headliners? Coming on the Friday just seems you'll miss quite a lot of everything before that and a right rush around when you do arrive.....
  14. I didn't realise until recently that a bulk of the West parking is over the main A361 road !
  15. Sometimes I find the 'one off' changes don't really work...bit like that 'spirit of 1971' stage.
  16. Mate of mine spent 3 1/2 hrs there in 2019 trying to get onto a train. Grim.
  17. Well there were a lot of comments that you could tell came from people who hadn't been before...can't recall exact specifics as it was 7 years ago!
  18. They did Southside acoustically last night then had a break and came back out and banged out all the hits. I think I'd watch them if they played, which is not something I think I would have said 24 hours ago!
  19. Sorry that joke has gone straight over my head!
  20. For me its the return coach journey that is causing me the most apprehension! My Sunday night is going to be dictated by what time I need to be at Ped gate A for! 😄
  21. Saw them in Oxford last night as my girlfriend is a big fan. Pleasantly surprised, and Sharleen Spitteri can still shift about the stage very well and has an outragous potty mouth 😄 Got enough hits to play a late afternoon/early evening set somewhere. Don't think they've played Glastonbury since 1999!
  22. I got the coach from Oxford in 2015...from memory it was quite a mixed bag of people. We had to be there for 6am, to load all our luggage on ready for a 6.30am departure. We got there 5.45am and were one of the last to arrive, everyone was stood waiting and chatting to other groups......Some like me who were just local to the area, some people we spoke to who had just used the coach to get a ticket and had no connection to the area (and had stayed in a hotel in Oxford the night before) , then an absolute ton of people who were studying in Oxford, including a massive crowd of Spanish students. It did skew our coach to be on the younger side as a result, but it was fine. Once on the coach, some people chatted, some slept, our coach left 30 mins late as one of the Spanish students left their tent at home and we had to wait for a friend of theirs to bring it to the departure point. We left at 7am, was mostly just chit chat to start with, and then the guy right behind me who had a portable radio on and as we got on the M4 put some house music on, the coach driver told him to turn it off as he couldn't hear Radio 2 over the top a few of us had a laugh and said we'd rather listen to Radio 4 than house music. 😄 We were in the front row and me and my mate chatted to the driver a fair bit, he was a nice guy iirc. The odd person was drinking (including my mate I travelled with), but I didn't really notice it..you could tell who the 1st timers were as soon as we saw the site in the distance they got very excited. We had to stop at the M4 services at Melksham to hand the tickets out and whilst waiting most people just stuck to their own groups tbh. In contrast on the return journey it was complete and utter silence apart from 2-3 people who were awake for most of it, which was just as well as the driver tried to take a shortcut off the M4 back to Oxford and got stuck/lost and a couple of people had to help him find the right way again!
  23. Just looking at some old photos on Glastonbury 2007 on a website, looks like a young Crazyfool! http://www.urban75.org/glastonbury/glastonbury-festival-2007-03.html
  24. Orchard Gate is the camping, catering and showers for Avalon Events/Shelter volunteers.
