  1. Yeah good one. I just remember the negatives like acts turning up at Reading only or Need turning up as a ‘massive’ secret set. Plus the RATM day turning into a pop day last year.
  2. You could do two of Truck, Y Not, Kenda, Trees, Tramlines for the same price as R&L this year and get so much more value for money. I’ll probably give R&L the benefit of the doubt this year and still go full weekend but if it’s poor again in 2024 that’ll be it. Would’ve packed it in by now if I didn’t live so close. Then again, I’ll see what the Download lineup holds in store tonight.
  3. Maybe not a massive draw for some of us but Yungblud has been touted to be on the lineup. He’d immediately knock someone like Chase Atlantic out of a logo slot. We’re once again at the point of being hopefully of some big late additions but deep down we all know it won’t happen. When did R&L last give us a welcome surprise (not The 1975 last year)
  4. The weekend’s Brit awards was almost a televised R&L event which shows the direction it’s going/gone in. I never pay too much attention to it but it says a lot that The 1975 won best alternative/rock act while Tom Grennan was nominated in the same category. Wild.
  5. Yeah it’d be a lot of money at previous prices but £290+ is a massive outlay for what they’ve announced so far. Seriously tempted by Y Not instead with Royal Blood, Kasabian, Paul Weller as the headliners at £160ish. Fwiw I know I’m old by R&L standards at 28 but I’d genuinely never heard of Steve Lacy before the first announcement. Is he actually sub size?
  6. For me it’s a case of the entire thing looking bang average. Beyond the headliners some of the logo acts are laughably weak - Steve Lacy, Chase Atlantic, Lil Tjay, Declan McKenna. We’ve talked in past years about the MSW headliners being glorified subs but this year’s trio shouldn’t be at headline level.
  7. Just thought it was strange they’d not do both, not like it’s a headline set but the demand would be there for both
  8. Was thinking The Blackout would be added with them being at Download. Don’t know why I expected Slam Dunk to pull a rabbit out of the hat
  9. Turnstile over here for Rock en Seine. Who else could we see of here?
  10. Even with this I’d be struggling to justify it if I went solely based on the lineup. 12-13:00 YMAS (guest opener) 13-14:00: The Snuts 14-15:00: Don Broco 15-16:00: Trippie Redd 16-17:00: Wet Leg 17-18:00: Slowthai 18:10-19:10: Loyle Carner (not arsed about any of the MSE subs) 19:50-21:20: Foals (none of the MSW headliners are doing it for me either) 21:30-22:50: Billie Eilish/The Killers (can’t split them)
  11. Our group does sound similar to yours, last couple of years I’ve not been convinced we’d go. Surprisingly 2019 was the closest call, only four of us went with a few more opting for a Foos day ticket. That year’s lineup would be a dream now!
  12. We do indeed, three of the group take their campervans now so the rest of us stick our tents in that field with them but we do the full weekend. Usually go down the arena from 1pm for the day even if acts aren’t to put taste, we’ll watch and drink to pass the time
  13. I’m dependent on the lineup/money. Most of my mates (aging from 30-55) bought tickets last month for the piss up and most of them have been going since the early 2000s as well. It’s tradition for us at this point no matter who plays.
  14. Not behind funny but The Cribs are in the UK the week before R&L. Pit headliner??
  15. I remember people getting lifted out of the front of the back section of the R1 at Disclosure in 2014, loads of people were jumping out down the middle gangway. Surprised I didn’t see any chaos at The 1975 in 2016.
  16. That’s what I thought, I’m assuming it’s an error from Ticketmaster (shocker). AM single handedly sold the festival out last year, if it wasn’t for them it wouldn’t have sold out two days after Christmas. Glad there’s no rush to get tickets this time!
  17. Anyone managed to get a campervan pass for Leeds? Been trying since Friday but there’s been none at all, no chance they’ve sold out
  18. At risk of going down a rabbit hole, Tik Tok is fuelling the hit wonder in its least noteworthy form. There’s so many that come and go so quickly, by the time August rolls around half of the Tik Tom acts unveiled now will be forgotten about. There’s no longevity to them whatsoever. By all accounts, Gayle’s set was packed last year but I’d love to know how many of that crowd knew more than abcdefu
  19. Thing is they’ve been clear about the meaning of the name since day one and listening to any song for 30 seconds explains it. Ah well, just glad they’re back
  20. In much better news, the boys are back in town under a new name
  21. I think it was only Dave and Megan Thee Stallion out of the headliners that overlapped, and 99% of the overlaps happened on that one day. They definitely market it as “no main stage clashes” though
  22. No acts on the two main stages are meant to clash, including headliners. Although for whatever reason this year there was a 5-10 minute overlap between some of them. You can definitely see one act then the other unless you want a decent spot
  23. Can you imagine how insufferable that Killers/Lewis Capaldi day will be. Day trippers turning up for the sake of Mr Brightside and Someone You Loved
  24. That explains everything, tik tok has been the death of this festival the last two/three years
  25. Slightly alarming that they could be headlining The Pit vs Billie which would be a nightmare for me
