  1. Awards and nominations is also ridiculous now that I think about it. There’s so few big festivals that Glasto, R&L, Download, Trnsmt will be nominated in that category every year. Temperature is irrelevant as well, if it’s pissing down I won’t sell my £300 tickets at a cut price. Still don’t get how any of that data puts any single one of them in those positions.
  2. Exactly, and when you consider half of these acts played last year of the year before, or are completely uninspiring, it’s piss poor
  3. The price per artist and Tik Tok metrics tell the story here. Ironically, it’s the worst festival of the lot to show off about to your mates. Can’t see how these stats make R&L the best festival in the UK

  5. Why do they put acts like Blur in these lists every year, just gets my hopes up that they’ve actually been considered knowing full well that they’ll never play
  6. A good few of my mates that haven’t been in years are coming this time but it feels like a last hoorah at Leeds for us. Some of our group haven’t been since the setup changed so they’re in for a right shock.
  7. It’s a shambles, I was thinking just this morning that there can’t be many cities of Leeds’ size that are as poorly connected. Isolation up here is half the problem, it’s a good hour into town on the bus. Bonus though is that the local bus picks up at the end of my road and drops off at Bramham Park for the day trippers!
  8. I’m shocked Leeds managed to get Ed Sheeran at all. It’s shocking to get around at the best of times never mind when 80k people descend on one location
  9. I just find it wild that they’re considered big enough in this country to play either a stadium gig or headline R&L. Okay, maybe one stadium date in a central location but they’re not good, let alone popular with the R&L demographic
  10. Yes and no, if they’re co-headliners they’re equally interchangeable but there’s no way Billie would’ve been an MSW headliner. It’s laughable that Imagine Dragons have headliner status

  12. They’ve made a rod for their own back if they do want to revert to the old style, it’d look like a massive step backwards. Problem though is that people have been fooled by a marketing trick as Benj says. We all know the lineup is no stronger than it was pre-change. I’d argue that, in the old format, having Foals, Capaldi and Imagine Dragons as Main Stage subs and the MSW acts in the R1 tent would look stronger. Realistically that’s where most of those acts should be playing.
  13. A joke isn’t it, the premiums we pay for 1. 99% of acts being more popular here than on the continent, and 2. Brexit 🤣
  14. Massive potential and hopefully appetite for it, particularly at Temple Newsam if they can get a camping license after the Leeds Fest riots back in the day. £100 a ticket is steep for Slam Dunk considering the sheer number of clashes every year
  15. Pigeon Detectives once did a DJ set at my old uni during one freshers week and we were the only ones there. Everyone else went to see… The Hoosiers
  16. I had low expectations so this lineup isn’t actually that bad for me. No big name acts added I want to see but the bands they’ve dotted about are decent. Yard Act opening the main stage and Palaye Royale meaning I won’t need to suffer through Fender, excellent.
  17. I can’t believe I already had the app 😂
  18. Imagine trying to add some excitement to your lineup by announcing Mimi Webb, Sub Focus (again), Easy Life and Arlo Parks and Rina Sawayama
  19. I can dream. Just give us some decent bands that’s all I ask
  20. Lads, there’s a gap for a legendary return
  21. In that case it has potential but it smacks of your usual R1-friendly acts. Yungblud, Mimi Webb, generic UK rapper, generic UK pop, The Hunna etc etc
  22. Do they usually do the second announcement on the radio or am I being too optimistic that it means some big ish acts will be announced?
  23. They’ve definitely made an effort to sort out their socials but yeah it’s still a disorganised mess
  24. Surely it’ll be next Tuesday/Wednesday. They would’ve just said “announcement this week” otherwise.
  25. Late Feb early March I’d say but that’s a guess. They need one soon to shift some tickets.
