Dunno what it's like where you are but no one's going for a nice Sunday stroll here. Isha is really giving it her all.

Just watched the final episode. Think it might be my favourite season. So many excellent performances but Juno Temple is incredible.

That's a relief, I thought I was having a funny turn

Try as I might I cannot for the life of me work out what this means

It says in the latest email if you qualify for half price. (I knew i would but still a relief to see it, £700 MOT bill for my van this week.)

Haven't done Boomtown for a good few years but it certainly used to have plenty of spaces quite late on. Don't know whether that's still the case.

I did Wilderness in 2021 so have nothing to compare it too but I didn't love it. I did enjoy it but that was probably more because it was only my 2nd post COVID festival and the first with all the gang back together. The Festival Republic stuff was a bit jarring as was all the paid stuff and sponsorship. And some of the punters were pretty entitled as you say. My shifts were fine, all 3 in accessible camping, but friends working in the main campsite had some pretty grim shifts dealing with some pretty grim people. And these were all very experienced stewards. So based on that one year did quite enjoy it, well almost definitely never go back.

There was one year where they stopped Glastonbury applications during priority but other than that they never have I don't think. Then after that they changed how you got priority status because so many had it. And it also helped encourage people to do other festivals and agree to supervising. Breaded Theory has gone in the first few minutes for years now. If I'm planning on doing it I always get that sorted before Glastonbury. It's usually full if you try to add it second

No passout! Hope she got back in...

That'd be a ace way for the festival to release the lineup. Then a few days later "Surprise!"
-
First year I supervised Sticklinch I had 6 stewards per shift. It was also the first year Oxfam had done it. Last year I had two. And we still had nothing to do. Tried explaining that to do many new stewards. Without this seemingly pointless, sorry absolutely essential, role you possibly wouldn't be in the festival.

That's the thing, innit. On paper the professional team look better but on the ground, the guys who've been doing it for 30 years a know the place like the back of their hands and know about all the weird little quirks are probably going to do a better job.

Agree with both these. I know secret sets have been a thing for ages but the fact it was on the Pyramid and so massive made it special (even if we all knew who it was) A couple of my friends are massive FF fans but I can take or leave them. But that hour was a LOT of fun

Cheers. It's that thing of "The best time to start was X years ago, the 2nd best time is now"

My company just pays the minimum, 3% I think. And while I am on relatively low pay i'm lucky that my outgoings are very low as my employers do provide cheap staff accommodation. So I can chuck a decent amount of that low pay into my pension and savings. If I was paying normal rent though I have no idea how you'd do it

So annoyed with myself for not taking this seriously when I was younger. I do now, and am making a real effort but missed out on so much and am just playing catchup. I genuinely think I thought I wouldn't make it to pension age! Seemed so far away, my dad died when I was 19 (and he was 53) and my lifestyle was very much leading me down the same path. But then I only bloody went and got healthy in my 40s didn't I. Bloody idiot. Really complicated things! I'd already got better with this stuff years before then but honestly, not at a high enough level and when it occurred to me I might actually live long enough to need a pension now I massively upped my contributions. I was already pretty good at saving) But it would have been so much better and easier just to start earlier. I'm like a pensions Jacob Marley with the younger staff at work now. Hopefully auto-enrolment is making a difference. I know the base level is very low but at least it's something

Give it a few years it'll be like the early 90s when half the girls starting school were called Kylie

No interest in his music, but I've always loved Tyler, the Creator's name. Something about that comma. More people should have commas in their names
-
Yeah, in my limited experience of them they're all usually a friendly, easy going and helpful bunch. Apart from that group who ran that cafe a few years back, can't remember their name

I only found out there was a new series a couple of days ago. Enjoyed the first episode. Very promising start.

I liked it (Toby Jones innit) but there were a few really clunky lines (WE'RE MAKING A SERIOUS POINT!) which even he struggled with.

For Oxfam specifically it's basically fastest first. Rough ballpark but Oxfam take 2500 ish and about half go in the priority window. Of course that could change. Especially as Oxfam have really been pushing the 'do two festivals, get priority' message. Other festivals which in the past have struggled to fill all their allocation seem to have filled up much quicker the last few years. But no way of knowing if that's people doing it to get priority for Glastonbury, or people just choosing the other festivals on their own merit and wanting to save a few quid. And if you don't get in on the first day then being willing/able to wait it out and obsessively check for any spots coming available when people cancel. And that can go right to the wire. I think most regular Oxfam volunteers have met/known of/are someone who have got a spot days out from the start of the festival. I've never done it for Glastonbury (had priority for years thankfully) but a couple of years ago I got a spot at Womad about a week before

You shouldn't be having a motion in the urinals

I think I've figured it out and It's not good news. Suprefan actually works for Glastonbury and they are preparing us for a less than vintage lineup so when we see it we think 'well at least it's not as bad as (insert awful American festival here)'

New Glastonbury Twitter profile pic - what does it mean??

Be worth it just to see the reaction of the picnic blanket brigade...
