What's the point of campaigning? If a random person can turn up on your doorstep, talk to you for a bit and hand you a leaflet and sway your vote then you aren't really serious about the topic or were never gonna seriously vote for that party anyway.

Literally just thinking the same thing while reading his reply to stevie about 5 or 6 posts back. I assume he doesn't but I REALLY hope he doesn't do any real life campaigning.

I regularly get offered stuff by traders when I'm working at festivals. Usually discounts or 'upgrades' rather than freebies but those too sometimes. Sometimes it's when I'm on shift and in my hi-viz, sometimes they might spot my ID or it's before the festival proper so there aren't any punters about. I've even had it where a trader has come over to us and told us to come and see them and they'll look after us. It's nice. Nice people being nice to other people. Recongnising and valuing our contribution to the festival. And it's nice to say thank you very much. And maybe have a little chat. Of course I could say, sorry I can't accept your very kind offer because it will cause you to have to charge these fine festival goers more to cover the expense of my free loading, but then that would be f**king weird.

A few New Zealand festivals I went to when I lived out there did the same

Whenever I've worn one of my Glastonbury t-shirts on holiday abroad I've pretty much always got a comment about it

I was never a particularly regular Private Eye reader but I remember them talking about it a lot, well before anyone else seemed to have picked up on it. From what I remember and what I've read more recently, it really doesn't seem to have been exaggerated for dramatic effect for the show. That pretty much was what happened. Absolutely nuts.

What have they called it so Disney don't sue them? How about 'Firestick'? Oh, hang on...

I learnt that a few years ago when I was stewarding at Latitude. This lad with a day ticket turned up hours before the gates opened (and even after the gates opened it was a few more hours until the arena opened) to make sure he was front and centre for Lana del rey. He was pretty odd. His manic nuttiness did help the remainder of a very slow night shift pass a bit quicker though. So thank you, crazy LDR fan! Thought there was a decent chance I'd be interviewed by a Netflix documentary a few years down the line.

I was in the north, so the cooler part of the country. And it was in the hills. Still too much for a pasty fat bloke from the north of England

I was there for 6 months over summer 2000. During a heatwave. The Israelis were struggling. I basically melted

Yeah probably a 7 for me too and probably for the same reason.

I really think this could be their breakthrough year, the plucky young upstarts. -
The season finale was a lot of fun. Nice little tribute to a well loved Christmas film too. The trailer for season 4 looks great. 3 & 4 were filmed at the same time so hopefully shouldn't have too long to wait.

Brilliant little touch, that.

Yep. I actually thought the series ended perfectly too and wouldn't have needed this one but it was the icing on the cake

I for one welcome our new AI overlords

His version of Lola is on one of the regular playlists at work and so for that reason I've learned to hate him.

I've really enjoyed S3 of Slow Horses. Possibly my favourite yet. Recently been binging The Lazarus Project. About half way through the 2nd season. It's a lot of fun. Started off pretty complicated but it's now getting REALLY complicated. Which is good as I currently need a distraction from things going on and this definitely does that. It does it all in a way that as long as you pay attention you can follow it, which some shows like this don't manage.

That is just bang out of order. No one signed up for that

Living in Cumbria in the winter I'm not always convinced that actually happens myself to be fair

Can't remember if I did this at the time but I'd like to give a general shout out to Osprey. I bought a Talon backpack second hand for £30. The full price is about £150 but you could probably get one for closer to £100 or so. The reason this one was so cheap was the belt buckle had broken. I knew Osprey were really good at doing replacement parts so I figured even if I had to pay for a buckle I'd still got a bargain (I thought as I wasn't the original purchaser and had no receipt I'd be charged). But no, entire buckle and webbing sent out to me free of charge. Didn't even have to pay for postage. 30 seconds to change it over. It's also an excellent pack. I've never spent anywhere close to the full price on a pack before. You can very much see the difference.

Not that odd. Most companies don't care. Get to look good because they offer it. Costs them less because not many take them up on it. From their perspective it's a win

Just got the priority confirmation email from Oxfam. 25th January it opens
