  1. I don't think it's your personal biases as mine go the other way (love Pulp, quite like The Cure but really enjoyed their 2019 set) and The Cure feel like a more appropriate headliner to me. Even if, like you say, a bit uninspired.
  2. You all have so much more patience than me. I know i should, but...
  3. I keep forgetting about James Blake and then someone will mention him and BANG there he is again.
  4. Rhod Gilbert hid in Greg Davies wardrobe for a Taskmaster task.
  5. Just realised I misread 'fill up last' as 'fill up fast'. Haven't camped in public camping since 1995. Do the higher up places really fill up last?
  6. Well exactly. So that's why some people might end up camping in areas prone to flooding. Because they literally have no choice.
  7. What about when all the non flooding places have filled up?
  8. As someone who lives in, hikes in, and works in tourism in the Lake District, I'd say the middle classes are very well represented amongst your outdoorsy/wild camping types.
  9. I was a pretty casual watcher in 2016 (wasn't bothered by other other options, friends were going, why not give em a go) and I was totally won over to the point it's one of my all timers. I'd still actively chosen to go and see them rather than like with some Pyramid subs where people are maybe there to stake out a good spot or just because it's the Pyramid, so it is slightly different, but still, shows they can win over the casual
  10. I'm much fitter and healthier than I was in 2016. In fact 2016 was probably me at my unhealthiest. Looking at photos from that year I was massive. Weirdly I don't remember 2016 being too hard work. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely harder than normal but not unmanageable. And that was combined with stewarding shifts too
  11. I work in a youth hostel in the lake District and where's the nearest charging point is becoming one of the most common questions I get asked. As it happens there's about 5 a couple of hundred metres away. Unfortunately they are in a car park which has a habit of flooding everytime it rains. Good job rain isn't an issue in the lake District then...
  12. Thing is, there's a lot of people over 35 at Glastonbury.
  13. That's awful. You definitely would've been fully justified taking it further. And like you say, not for the money just for the principle. But also to highlight their system clearly doesn't work and try and get them to fix it. Not that that's your job or problem.
  14. I must admit I hadn't thought of it in terms of the issue being with the supervisor (even if it isn't their fault as such, as you say). I was thinking more in terms of at a senior Oxfam management level not assigning roles correctly or something. Comms/training could definitely be better on that sort of thing. Even something as simple as having a system for highlighting to a supervisor as they pick up their sheets that they have a steward with a RA. I supervise myself and if a steward mentioned they needed a RA that I hadn't noticed or had been missed say, I'd probably take their word for it and discreetly check with Oxbox
  15. That's it. There's plenty that's decent. But nothing to make me go wow. Or gutted if I missed it
  16. I do wonder how I'd feel if I was paying for a ticket
  17. Are they normally that low key with the first poster announcement? You'd expect a "We are delighted/exited/thrilled to announce" or something. Not just "Well, here it is then". They know
  18. I guess a positive for me is I don't have to worry about my shifts impacting who I see. There's plenty on there I'll enjoy but no one I'd be devastated at missing
  19. That's very poor by Oxfam. Just want to say first I am absolutely not doubting what you say and I'm sure it happens more than we realise but I'm also genuinely surprised to hear this. 4 times! You'd think after the second time there'd be an extra effort not to make the same mistake again. Never needed adjustments myself but met/worked with many who have and I think in all my time I've only met one person who had this happen to them too. I wonder what the legal ramifications would be for this if you chose to take it further. Are they leaving themselves open to problems if people did take it further? Same as in paid work? Although I have no real idea what the rules there are tbh. Could you (or someone) refuse to work until your adjustments are met? Can see why you don't want to volunteer with them again. Not sure I would have lasted the 4 times you did to be honest. Do you volunteer with anyone else now? And if so, have they been better?
  20. It's going to be just like an American election, just a shittier, cut price version
  21. This is the bit I always try to emphasise to bored stewards. I seem to have been lumbered with supervising a VERY quiet gate with only a small number of stewards so it all seems very dull and pointless and yes, maybe they don't need as many stewards in some roles but it's not like you'd be working somewhere more exciting instead, there'd just be fewer stewards overall so your chances would be even smaller of getting in

    2024 Headliners

I get 2014 when I click on that
  23. A friend recently sold a small flat in Bristol and make a crazy profit on it. I can't remember the figures (not even ballpark) but I remember her being astounded. She knew it'd gone up a lot but was genuinely shocked with what she got for it. And she wasn't even trying. Took a fairly early decent offer, probably could've got more if she'd pushed but just wanted done as she'd already relocated to Cumbria. Like I say I don't know the figures but it was over a much shorter time span too, maybe 5 years. Maybe not even that.

    2024 Headliners

I'm not sure mine has heard of Coldplay, never mind SZA
  25. Being right in the pit was the worst place to be for Beck. That's where my mate was and he said he felt like he was the only one who was interested in Beck. Everyone else was just there for Coldplay. Whereas I was further back and had a great crowd around me (we both then went to the Other for LCD)
