  1. So, I got the caravan out to start getting it prepped and ready over the next couple of long weekends.. which got me looking (a tad early perhaps) at route planning.. coming from the east, i usually take A14, M6, Toll and then A38 and in past the National Memorial Arboretum... but have noticed on google maps that after NMA and the small railway bridge, you would normally bear left onto the road that leads to the site.. but that is marked as 'Closed'.... anyone know what that is about? It has the potential to cause horrendous traffic if true...
  2. ah... of course! no problem with that... If it had been Sunday afternoon and they announced Coldplay my youngest daughter (who we couldnt help with a ticket) would be inconsolable..

    Campervan Resale

I love an overhead photo of the CV fields....
  4. That would be dreadful.... "Guess what you are missing....!!"
  5. Maybe they could do with Glastonbury style 'field stewards' (I know they are not called that).. that inform campsite crew at the entry gates how much space they have... Have a big map at the entrance and direct campers?

    Campervan Resale

sometimes also known as the Slope of Mild Inconvenience (my knees still think HoD)
  7. This is the most ridiculous fail ever.... Imagine if it was the wednesday and you got caught in loads of traffic with vehicles filled with grinning idiots 😂 I missed last year after having a run from 2007 (missed 2008 deliberately - still drying out) and decided to fully embrace the BBC coverage... I really enjoyed it! and waking up in my own bed without a banging hangover was pleasant. My daughter absolutely ignored it and was grumpy with me even mentioning it..
  8. Mountains will usually add to the difficulty in golf i imagine
  9. Out of interest Yog… if your brothers mate were to be approached by say a farmer, nurse or conceptual artist that wanted to improve their golf technique… would he tell them to do one.?
  10. They have always been so strict about the use of space (in Trent at least) with spaces actually pre marked.. a steward one year told me that I couldn’t park my pick-up next to my caravan and would have to go and park it in the general car park…. oh how we laughed..
  11. I remember going to see Flaming Lips in The Park in 2017… my daughter and I pissed as newts, singing at the top of our voices and dancing like crazy things… on the way out after my daughter said “that was brilliant Dad… although, it would have been perfect if Wayne’s annunciation was a bit better…” I had to agree and now rank it second best performance behind Placido Domingo at Royal Festival Hall * I may have made that up
  12. It did stretch right back there didn’t it…??
  13. @incidentcomment above is absolutely spot on…. they have great facilities for kids but it never feels that there are loads of kids there… a quick question from me (as I cannot for the life of me find it on the website).. what time do they open on Thursday.? specifically the CV fields.. ? Last year we didn’t show until late afternoon and ended up the other side of Catton Hall, would like to be back in Trent this year
  14. It has to be said last time they played there it was pretty empty but it was a decent crowd in this time and interesting quite a lot were wearing merch, so a good sign hopefully... There was quite an excessive amount of crowd surfing this time, which is fine from Kiran as he is probably 7st wet thru... but Dan had a go and he is quite a unit..! 😂
  15. Gaz Coombes in Cambridge last night... per @The Nalit was an absolutely top performance... I really hope he is one of the late additions to the line-up.. Would go straight on my 'must see' list..
  16. saw October Drift in Peterborough last night... full on energy as normal.. They are back out for their last few dates of this tour in May.. Do yourself a favour and have a cheap (£13!) night out supporting a hard working band and a local small venue to boot..
  17. Nice back story.. Seeing them 50 years ago seems crazy.! Imagine telling your younger self back then.. when Elton comes on stage at Glastonbury it will be a fraction over 48 years since I saw him at my first gig (Wembley Stadium).. No Dutch romance I’m afraid… my sister bought be the ticket for my birthday and I was there on my own..

    Shopping?

    And quite accurate
  19. ooooh.. That'll be worth a watch
  20. I dont think you will necessarily be too far away.. E14 is the last field to be filled in General and if you are in the western part of the field, it is an easy cut through to E24/25 and so not too far from the HoD.. and if that is the case, the double bonus is that you will be nearest the exit come Monday morning 👍 Given that you are getting in so late, you could even try telling the stewards that you have friends in E24 and they said there is still space there.... do they have any objection to you going in there?? (and there will likely be space in there) per @drunk pumpkintry to take out what you need for the whole day, you dont want to be thinking you can 'pop back' to the van for a bit.. Have a great festival!
  21. There doing them in Burnt Oak now..!!?? I thought Salted Caramel was exotic enough...
  22. Very much looking forward to him hitting Cambridge next week….. still think he will get a half decent Park or Woodsies slot 🤞

    Avalon 2023

add Holy Moly and the Crackers to that list of great live acts (as well as Vintage Trouble as previously mentioned) and I agree that there is plenty there to enjoy.. btw, I thought the Silver Hayes announcement was a big bag o' shite.. but i didnt feel the need to go piss on their fireworks
  24. There is a lot of activity squeezed into a short amount of time there….. Bexhill to Bradford to Bristol… the bus is going to be ripe.
