Yes. I don't mind "hype" competitions, or ones that require a bit of effort - but they shouldn't be exclusionary. And this one is as exclusionary as they come, give that it rules out anyone who can't easily get to central London for an as-yet unspecified amount of time on a weekeday lunchtime/afternoon.

I mean, he's not wrong. The cheaper ones (and for that matter some of the more expensive ones) tend to cut corners especially with things like wheels and axles, which are exactly the things that you need to be right if you're taking it on Glastonbury terrain.

And the fix has been implemented in such a way that anyone who does try to bypass the load balancer (regardless of whether they're connecting to an approved server or one that's not intended for use) will appear to connect to the site, but will always get a "busy" page. I've just double checked this now, and it still applies.

Not suggesting it's a perfect system. But there'll be some validity to it - not a guaranteed win by any means but it'd certainly massively help the odds.

For that matter - Deliveroo is within range (possibly others as well, but definitely them). I was seriously considering it (for a takeaway, rather than Supermarket supplies) on the Wednesday evening, but didn't pull the trigger as I figured I'd have the piss ripped out of me.

While you couldn't guarantee anything, there is a couple things that could be checked without opening the bar to try and identify winning bars. Firstly, just the feel - if you've got "hands on" a few different bars, then it's possible that one of them just feels slightly different with the extra piece of card inside. That's what I reckon happened with that video - they probably guessed that this felt different and so got the phone out to record in case it really was a winnner (if it's not that, then they were recording themselves on probably less than a 0.01% chance in which case I despair of the world). Secondly, weight. If someone (which obviously would have to be a shop worker) can put each bar on the scales, then they should all be within a couple grams of each other - so the extra bit of card will probably add enough overall to make a winning bar the heaviest in the batch. It won't be enough that's perceptible to a normal person picking it up, but I'd assume most branches have decent quality scales to hand that can be quite precise. But tbh even within all that - given the number of Oxfam shops out there, the chances that any one of them even has a winning bar to start with is slightly less than 1% so I doubt it'd be worth going to that trouble to start with.

These kind of things (Longdrops, Pyramid) have always been on a more flexible schedule as they're done by the "regular" farm workers rather than people being employed or contracted in. So the timing tends to be down to their workload / schedules rather than directly impacted by the weather.

It's worth mentioning that if you're volunteering, then your campsite will likely be at the far end of the site - somewhere near Island Harbour Marina - and so supermarkets in Newport will be a fair trek. If you're arriving the day before the festival opens, then you'd probably want to take a public bus or taxi, or convince a fellow volunteer to give you a lift to the Supermarket. If that's not viable, then definitely worth trying ones near the Ferry if possible, or wait for the on-site Co-op to open.

Would have had to be either Brothers or Tonys. Those are the only "instant win" ones, everything else will be drawn after the (not yet reached) closing dates.

I've never been, so I don't know what they have there. But on face value, it would be a substantially better premium option than we currently have on site.
