  1. Christ. Again? They must be on about their 10th profile over at least 5 years..
  2. By a huge number of multiples.
  3. It's a reference to the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory style competition. I don't believe that it's physically golden (or at least wasn't last year), but that aside the exact same concept.
  4. Truth is, we have no idea. If it's oversubscribed and selling out in the initial rush, then the sellout time isn't an evidential factor. There could be 50 people locked out, or it could be 500,000. In either scenario the sellout time is down to how quickly the ticket selling system can process the transactions.
  5. Basically - you've misremembered a light-hearted comment that Michael made referencing a concert in Russia that Macca had played the week before. Nothing you mention even comes close to being knowingly dishonest.
  6. This is cheating a bit, but there's a few on here: https://twitter.com/search?q=Glastonbury balance&src=typed_query&f=live I genuinely don't get it. I had mine paid by about noon on the 1st, and that was the latest I'd ever left it.
  7. Feels like I'm stating the obvious here, but the the Chocolate / Cheese / Brothers competitions aren't really designed for the people who're prepared to spend silly money buying far more than they normally would. They exist to encourage the substantially larger majority of people who might buy enough for a small number of entries to change their habits - buy an ethical (and nicer) chocolate bar instead of something from Mondelez or Nestle. Buy it from Oxfam instead of Tesco, and hell while you're there take a look around and see if there's anything else of interest. Remember that on the recent prize draw, there was a total of 63,972 entries from 33,606 people - so on that one easily more than half of the people entering only did so once - no idea whether that translates to the other competitions but I think it does show that for the majority a competition to win Glastonbury tickets is treated as a punt, rather than something to approach tactically.
  8. Not really. Unless you count Michaels traditional "best festival ever" statement that he used to make every year, but I'd just call that hyperbole rather than anything more.
  9. A duvet isn't much difference to a sleeping bag isn't it? Just not usually packed down so much. Not tried it but I assume you could vacuum pack it relatively small.
  10. By the only metric that matters in this context - the number of people they can attract to the field - I'd put substantial money down that she's not. People can bitch and moan that Coldplay are there again all they want. But they'll still get by miles the biggest headliner crowd of the weekend, and put in a performance that the people there love (and that's coming from someone who'll probably be elsewhere).
  11. I think you underestimate how much the feeling of smugness is worth, when you arrive at a festival while it's raining and can be pitched and in the dry within seconds while others are dicking around for 10 minutes. Especially the ones who have tents that pitch inner-first.
  12. Ah, to be fair, if an iconic venue put up massive collage featuring my glory days I'd probably be pretty chuffed about it as well. Think this one is very forgivable.
  13. The 2013 to 2014 increase was largely about juggling numbers rather than intended to be significantly more people on site. Specifically - until that point it was fairly common for areas to reuse wristbands, so an artist would finish their set and have to leave site immediately so that someone else could take their spot. The increase was intended to make it so that 1 person = 1 wristband across the weekend. I believe there was also some form of amnesty on crews sneaking people in off the books - though not sure how successful it was, I know it's something that still happens.
  14. The fact that Hospitality comes out of the Staff, Crew and Artists allocation should always be included as a huge caveat to those numbers though.
  15. Yeah. Most people (me being one of them this year) are going to pay the balance even if they think the lineup is poor. What kind of tortured soul would give up a Glastonbury ticket without a better reason than "I don't like Coldplay"? I'm sure the statement is truthful - but I doubt that it's by any significant margin, or miles outside the normal variation.

    Glastocam!

I don't know the current status*, but as of the 2015 festival, it wasn't in a building. It was (for lack of a better way of describing it) a small box on the edge of the farmyard, with a camera on a pole coming out of the top of it. Can't actually remember noticing how it was powered and/or got network connectivity, but I assume there must have been a cable of some description running to it. *more specifically, we can see that it's not physically moved since, but I don't know whether they've built some form of enclosure/protection around it. It did appear to be surprisingly exposed at the time.
  17. The more I look at that, the more I'm convinced it's not connected to an announcement at all. The "Pyramid" effect is simply a pattern effect based on diagonal lines. And the background behind the girls appears to be a boxing match held in the old stadium. I think it's just a "Wembley Legacy" design used to make some temporary fencing look nicer. And Mel B is posting it because she's proud of it.
  18. Certainly would be the obvious fit with the image.. But.. the Luxor doesn't have a venue big enough to make the kind of money they'd want (current capacity of the theatre is 1,500). So either they'd have to expand, build something new, or rent out something nearby (which is possible - there's a stadium and 2 arenas within half a mile). Also can't help but think that "Wembley" is one of the more evocative venue names in British music history, so seems odd to tag it there if it's not connected.
  19. The original poster lists their location as Bristol.. Personally if the group had agreed Bristol or Bath as a departure point, then I'd be seriously pissed off with someone going off-script and buying Birmingham especially as it means an extra few hours on a coach, a higher cost, and 80 quid or whatever on a hotel room.
  20. Yep very much so. If I ever do replace it, it'll be with the same model or an evolution of the same.
  21. The Decathlon F&B range is my recommendation - specifically I have this one, but I'd more suggest looking at the whole range rather than individual models as what suits for me may not work for someone else.
  22. To be fair, if they had or still have a contract with SGP then they may be limited in what they can say. Looking at the MyCause application portal, SGP is no longer listed at all so my best guess would be that SGP is trying to cut costs and go a cheaper route with stewarding.
  23. The models with a porch have a porch. The one I take does. The ones that don't have a porch don't have a porch. It's no different than any other type of tent.
  24. Disagree with this almost entirely. Yes, they're mildly more awkward to transport, but the Decathlon ones at least (and those are all the ones that matter as I can't comprehend buying a non-F&B tent) are far easier to take down and put away than most dome or tunnel designs - you just unpeg it, and then there's a handle on the inside of the tent that you pull/drag to the entrance. As you do so, the tent collapses on itself and folds/flattens itself automatically. Then it's just a case of clipping things back up, and pulling on a drawstring to complete the second fold. It's totally different to the early designs that you may be remembering when there was complicated folds to master. I'd estimate that anyone who's done it a couple times should be able to go from tent fully up, to in the bag, in less than 5 minutes and even a first timer won't take much longer if they've read the instructions or watched a video. Once they're up, then there's very little difference to a comparably sized Dome tent.
  25. I would assume that the festival is selling badly, and have made cuts. Which could mean fewer stewards, could mean switching to a cheaper organisation entirely, or could mean something more drastic. There's certainly precedent for all of the above happening with other festivals,
