  1. "It works for black metal bands, so it can work for us!"
  2. I was fortunate enough to have Funeral for a Friend pushed to my birthday next year, which was a delightful shift. I always try and find something to do, and the decision has been made for me this time!
  3. I really don't think The National fall into that category any more than most.
  4. Are The National really "marmite"? Unless the meaning of that phrase in this context has changed, I don't think enough people even care about them enough for it to ring true.
  5. Just finished both Ted Lasso and Squid Game. Ted Lasso was superb stuff again, and Squid Game... I wouldn't say I completely buy the hype, but it's definitely worth your time. I've now got Evil season 2 and The Chestnut Man ready to go.
  6. So my last one was the tremendous Ash at Glasgow's SWG3. I've now been in two of their venues. Galvinizers this time and was in the TV Studio for The Rasmus, and thought both were excellent. With it being a 25th Anniversary tour, it was loaded with great songs. Tim Wheeler looked like he could have kept going for another few hours, while the bass player looked monumentally f**ked within about 2 minutes of walking on stage. It was a tremendous show though, capped off with everyone staying behind to sing along to "Time of My Life" at the end. Kudos to Indoor Pets who were the main support act, who I hadn't listened to before this gig, and they were pretty impressive. I've kinda fallen behind with music in recent times and this is a band who I might need to dive into.
  7. Glasgow on a Sunday night? Better hope the rail strikes aren't still going at that point!
  8. Slam Dunk was mines, and it was a glorious day. My first actual normal gig was not long after with Ash playing the SWG3 which was a LOT of fun. Enter Shikari at the QMU isn't long away either. Getting properly into the swing of things again!
  9. I could easily buy her doing this tbh. There's nothing to stop her doing her own thing in stadiums the next summer.
  10. Given that festivals are still trying to get bands that couldn't play before, Kraftwerk and Tame Impala seem to be fairly safe bets for doing this. Kooks/Wombats probably off the menu with The Wombats doing the o2 though.
  11. Not a BIG fan of Gerry Cinnamon but him at Kendal in 2019 was absolutely incredible. Absolutely electric.
  12. Aye. Doing Glastonbury is an entirely different beast from doing something like this.
  13. Kasabian seem to be wanting to play every festival going. At this rate I wouldn't be surprised to see them open a festival just to play on it.
  14. Right. I'm a bit late replying to this. I'd always wanted to go to a Slam Dunk, and my wee cousin asking me two days before if I wanted to go meant I was on the way. Seen McFly, A, Creeper, end of Frank Turner, Funeral for a Friend, Skindred, Alkaline Trio, most of While She Sleeps. Tried to watch NOFX after that since they started late, but I was spent and agreed to meet my cousin at the meeting point and went for a lie down. Funeral for a Friend were the highlight of the day, and McFly being how I started my Slam Dunk was pretty perfect. Actually took part in the Newport Helicopter this time as well. All in all, a great day.
  15. Putting The Libertines behind The Strokes could be not bad business for a day ticket tbh. I can't see The Strokes doing big numbers, but hit a bit of a big early to mid 00s indie one-two punch as the top two and it might tempt some folk. Personally, they'd probably put me off more than anything, but I could see it getting people interested. I'm waiting to see how the Nutini and Strokes days unfold. Not seen either and I'd definitely like to see both. Getting tickets for the Nutini day will be a fun ride I'm sure, so it'll probably end up being The Strokes.
