  1. Hold on a minute, does anyone else think it’s a bit weird that COVID has booked Christmas off but was working over Eid? How coincidental.

  2. Guys please can we not discuss tunnels. I have a fear of driving through tunnels with multiple people in the car. The Dr said it's Carpool Tunnel Syndrome.

  3. Guys, thanks so much for all the kind words! Glad you enjoyed the blue dot watching. Legs are sooooo drained today, my left foot and right ankle I twisted coming down Scafell have been happier, but the target was hit for the Stroke Association and it made me smile seeing names from here on the donations page. Very kind.

  4. These were the kind of people that fell for Orson Wells war of the worlds prank on radio. Maybe it takes a decade for people to realise that not everything they see/hear on a new medium is true, like they build up a cynical immunity to it, first radio, then TV now we need to wait for the penny to drop regarding Facebook

  5. Very tough question - I was nearly 17 living in Glasgow - I was in the Scouts but certainly was not playing football and 100% did not have a clue there was anything going on in Somerset and even if I did I doubt my parents would have approved - I also was not aware of the 1971 event either and only found out about the 1979 event { the first 3 day event } as by then I had moved to London and a friends Folk band was booked to play at it and I got roped in as I could drive - No sat nav in those days - no giant street signs pointing the way - all we really knew was it was closer to Shepton Ma

  6. Not quite. I went to Glastonbury -2 - the Bath Blues Festival in 69 and Glastonbury -1 The Shepton Mallet Festival in 70 (both events attended by ME who cites them in part as his inspiration) but for reasons that I can't recall I didn't actually go to the actual Glastonbury Number One. But I've made up for it pretty well since.

  7. This isn't news, but it is reassuring, from a mental health point of view:

  10. As @xxialac pointed out, there's longer to go until next year's festival than the virus has even been in Europe properly. Try not to stress about it, there's multiple options the festival can consider, as we've been talking about over the past few pages. If neither testing or vaccine have improved by late winter then yeah, maybe we can be filled with doom about it, but otherwise it's far too early to call anything.

  13. Given the current strain on medical infrastructure I’m not sure the South West Emergency Services could handle 80,000 people dying of boredom in one go.

  14. The government has to make a stand on this. Enforce this lockdown hard and now or risk not being able to see your families at Christmas.

  15. The Xmas thing is surely because they know people are going to meet up over Xmas and its unenforceable

  18. Good news down at this end of the world... just 14 new infections counted within the last 24 hours. It seems crazy that we're still under such a tough lockdown (curfew at night, limited time/distance out of the house, masks mandatory everywhere, all retail/hospitality closed) when the UK is counting several thousand a day and is so much closer to normality, but there it is. So the next date the restrictions may be eased here is 28th, but the "easing" is incredibly marginal. The date of significance is the end of October.

  20. No matter how badly I come across at least I don’t call people c*nts, throw insults at them, call people disturbed and post that you want to drop a nuke on people in China. I’d rather come across badly then come across like that. You can downvote but you mainly use your downvotes for me which is unfair. You won’t stop posting this is what you do, the whole cycle begins again. You said you would put me on ignore so please do that.

  21. You are far from the only one and do well to remain micro. This is by far the worst government of my lifetime. There is not a single member of the cabinet I can understand anyone having an ounce of respect for. They are a disgrace and an embarrassment.

  23. Although there's also the fact that - for the most part - the promoters & producers capable of putting on those stadium shows (especially when you're talking about acts that are signing international deals) are the same few companies who have large festivals to book. Live Nation are allegedly hurting for cash either way - it may well affect the budgets at their festivals, but it's equally likely to affect the guarantees they can afford to play when booking acts into Wembley etc - meaning more of the risk falls onto the act - someone well placed (possibly John Giddings?) has said that

  25. @sdsm It is getting tiring pal, this is a very useful thread with contributions from very well informed people that has helped me along with a number of others I'm sure get through these very strange times we find ourselves living in. Yet it keeps getting hijacked and diluted by your posts and ungrounded grievances with other members. I know its been said before but why not just ignore this thread and enjoy/contribute elsewhere on this lovely forum. Or at least explain why you disagree with a view point rather than down vote with no explanation.

  26. You can easily use a VPN to mask your IP address. If this is SDSM (which it is) this will be your 5th account, this is beyond a joke.

  28. I Previously apologised for that so not fair to bring it up... Stop posting such left wing crap and constantly dismissing the government on a micro level then I won't downvote your posts. You cry as soon as someone doesn't agree with you, you started a stupid argument with @Fuzzy Afro.... If downvotes make you feel like that then to be honest its pretty weird
