I've noticed on the beautiful days travel page "In 2025 there will once again be a CLOSURE at the A30 Off-Slip at Pattesons Cross during the peak arrival times on the Thursday"

In case like me you are towing a caravan and have kids with you and don't relish the idea of spending a long time in a queue, I thought I would share my experience last year.

We will be heading southwards down the M5, instead of approaching site from the west down the A30, we got off the M5 at Collumpton (J28) and took the A373 to Honiton where we joined the A30 and approached site from the east. All decent "A" roads and perfect for towing.

I set my satnav to arrive at blue gate at 12:00 (car park opening time) and got there at 12:20. 

The only time I have tried following the signs approaching from the west (and not cheating by just getting off at Pattersons cross) i was in the queue for at least 2 hours.

Don't know how this compares to other people experiences but I'm gonna do that again.
