Camping alone with teenage son

Hi there, looks like my husband is backing out due to back issues. My 15 year old is dying to come and registered for possible resale. Do you think he would get bored being with mum or on his own? And where would be the best place to camp as worried family camping will be youngsters and not people his age. Any advice would be great.

To be honest, your chances of camping near kids of a similar age are still higher in family fields than general camping. There are kids of all ages in the family camps. Wicket field had a small separate field aimed at parents with teenagers when we stayed there in 2015, but I believe that may have been taken away, due to the move of the John Peel tent last year. I'd still suggest either family camping, or the quieter general ones, such as Lime Kiln, Paines, Bushy etc.

As far as whether he'll get bored goes, it really depends on your relationship. Would you be happy to let him explore on his own at that age? Do you have similar tastes in music? Would you be happy to miss some things you'd like to see in favour of something he wants? Would he do the same in return? Only you know the answers to those, really!

Having done this, although not as a single parent, definitely bring him

We let ours go off with her mate but set strict rules on meeting up. Don't rely on a mobile. I think she was 14.

Its an in-between age, but I'd do the family field, as I'm guessing your not planning on being up all night.
