WiFi coverage

Hey,

To my understanding, since last year festival goers are provided with wifi connection via magical cows, or something. My friends and I were wondering how much of the festival area does the wifi coverage span? Is it safe to assume that we'll have wifi near the stages and in our tent (which, if all goes as planned, will be near a main stage), or is it just in designated areas such as the EE tent?

Also, from your experience, is the wifi connection usually reliable?

Thanks again, you guys are really helpful :)

The general consensus was that the wifi cows were about as effective as a normal cow for providing wifi. The main stages are generally the worst place for getting messages through simply down the the number of people massed together.

What were you planning on using the wifi for?

You wont get any wifi by your tent.

You may get some at the EE chill & charge tent.

You may get some around the EE cows or tractors if they are running them this year (it was to promote 4GEE last year).

There will be wifi by the stages but these are private networks for the stage crew to use for stage related matter, not uploading a picture of your food to instagram.

As others have said, don't expect to be able to get WiFi anywhere. The logistics of providing a reliable WiFi connection to 170,000 people spread across fields in rural Somerset are pretty tricky!

If you absolutely have to get online (for work or similar), get an EE phone with 4G or a 4G mobile hotspot.

Failing that, turn your phone off and head for the bar. It's usually the best option.

Thanks for your answers :)

Just to make it clear, we weren't planning on being online almost at all, it's just that we're not from the UK, and on-site wifi would've helped us communicate with each other without paying for expensive calls & messaging deals from our local phone companies. But oh well, we'll figure it out.

    • Well when you chuck 150 predictions put somethings gotta stick 😜   When you have GC or Avril as options to sub Blink, Turnstile wouldn't be a good option at all. Put them under a heavier headliner.   The thought that three days grace will headline avalanche is pretty laughable with the slots they are getting this year at fests. They were class at RIP     On am overall side note, Bruce slipped on last night see you next year before the encore!   Also Maiden smashed it!
    • Assuming nobody knows she’s playing before the main sale, it wouldn’t be that bad. There’d still be plenty of Swifties for you to sneer at but it wouldn’t be because they’ve infiltrated the sale, it would be because she’s just that popular.
    • I just saw Rock am Ring in Germany did a video announcing blink-182 will be playing it next year during this year's festival there.   We talked about when Glastonbury announces it's first headline act but that would be different if they announced a 2028 headliner during next year's event.
