There are lots of simple ways to check for wristbands. One way they could do it would be that in order to get served at the bar you have to show it to the person behind the bar first. If you don't have one on, they could call over a member of the security team to investigate. Just a thought.

I don't know how I feel about sneakers and fence jumpers. I completely understand why they want to do it, the same reason as I have three laptops open furiously F5ing in October and April, the same reason as I log into this website 10 times a day. I admire anyone's confidence to be able to attempt it, I could never do it, no matter how desperate. I guess my biggest concern is the possible criminal element that gets through. I've heard some real horror stories from the past and thankfully they seem to be less common occurrences these days (not naive enough to say they've completely disappeared) but for the past five Glastonbury's that I've been to I've pretty much felt as safe as anywhere I've ever been. I would hate for that to change because it's one of the most positive aspects of the event.

you may think its simple but the Security you see in bars are employed by the bar operators and are not directly connected to GFL and really its not the job of bar staff to check any wrist band apart for the over 18 wrist bands.
even if GFL would be willing to fund this
people who don't have a wrist band would then just avoid the bars that have Security { as not all bars can afford their own security }

in the old days when people were digging tunnels or using ladders they were being run by Criminal gangs who were charging a fee and many found out when they reached the other side there would be a second gang charging them twice.
sure people may have got in without a ticket but they still ended up funding some bunch of Thugs { who was doing no good apart from lining their own pockets }
