Kiesza

Just outside my top 5, but this is extraordinary. Kiesza is truly a force of nature. Only fucking phone footage I'm afraid, but this was awesome if you were there.

Did you enjoy the Kelis performance, bamber? Or did you find it a bit of a let down?

It had its highlights, but overall it was not the best thing I saw. She did not engage with the audience enough. When she played Sonic stage in 2010, pure House style, it was so much better. Disappointed, but still glad I was there. The voice is awesome and the girl is replete.

I heard 4 UK Number one singles played live on this day at the festival, this was one, so what are the three others? Clue, one was a Christmas number one.

Manic Street Preachers "If you tolerate this your children will be next"?

Another good guess, but no sadly I missed this one too. Indeed it was No1. (how many UK No. 1s in total were there ?)

The Christmas No 1 was "Caravan of Love" performed live by Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott

I wouldn't have guessed that in a month of Sundays.

I know number one hits are far from the measuring stick by which to judge the festival but it does just highlight again how much talent/success (whichever way you look at it) there is throughout the lineup on a daily basis

Don't know where I was but I'm a bit gutted I missed her. Saw Kelis on the telly and it looked good but not great, then saw her a couple of weeks after at Latitude (heartbreakingly, I had to leave The Phantom Band early to see her) and she was on proper top form, great show.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
