East campervan site questions

Guest rednick

Recommended Posts

Hi as title staying in East, our campervan has onboard water and waste water tanks, which will be full (water) and empty(waste) when we arrive on Tuesday. Is there a facility to empty waste tank on site and can I drive close to a stand pipe to refill water tank. Thanks for any help

From memory, but it depends which of the CV fields you are in, there are waste emptying facilities. You probably won't be able to drive around to fill up with water. Usually you are directed straight into a camping spot so may have to trundle off with an Aquaroll.

why are you arriving with water ? there are loads of water points an loads of toilet waste points. queues for the water are usually short and very sociable. there is never a queue for the toilet waste - for obviosu reasons ...

Grey water - a lot of people let this out onto the ground, but this can be highly selfish depending on who is next to you and the condition of the ground. Alternative is to put it into an aqua roll and dispose of it out of the way. Challenge then is to clean the aqua roll ready for your clean water.

Clean water - get an aqua roll or if you're lucky to be close to a water point, a really long hose and connectors!

Toilet cassette - coin flip or other random-ish method of selection for who has to empty the cassette. And remember there is always an air inlet valve on them to make your slops slop better! (We had a shit only rule for the onboard toilet!)

Sorry should have explained. The van has a 100l on board tank its easy to fill with a hose pipe, but decanting from a easiroll or jerrycan is a pain in the butt. id rather not drive up from Cornwall with a full tank, but if its easier to do so I will, plus it can take a while to fill up so dont want to hog the stand pipe while other people are waiting, a refill fill or top up i can do one evening when its quieter and the queue isnt so long.

I bought a second Aquaroll from eBay specially for Glastonbury... was worried about the water. So from the sounds of it I should not worry too much about getting it filled up on site as we arrive? I was thinking I should fill them both up before I arrive but would also rather not drive with 80 litres of water sloshing about in the car's boot.

Fill up on site when I arrive Wednesday night will be ok?

I use a small 12v pump that i just drop into the water carrier and it does it all for me - cheap enough off ebay - had mine for years

quiet satisfying watching it while I swig from a can think its calles a whale pump - should be less than a tenner (you plug into your motorhomes cigar lighter

The stewards don't always know where the waste tanks are (after all, they rotate on their duties) but I found the waste tank next to the toilet block in E17/E18 last year, and I filled up on site rather than use up diesel transporting water, although I have a 5 gallon barrel, trolley and funnel for the CV tank.

Always the first thing I do when I get there - fill as many water carriers as I can - and solar shower bags. Enough to last me for the full fest - too many other fun things to do once it gets going than stand around waiting for a low pressure water standpipe!

We're Coming from Cornwall too. Personally we filled up before we left. All the caravans fill up when they arrive so the queues

Are long. We just top up later in the week when needed and the queues are shorter. Waste tanks are next to the toilets so no bother there. If you do need to decant grey water I would use a seperate container to the fresh water as frankly grey water is minging and its not worth getting ill over.

Well you always use an Aquaroll for the fresh water and fresh water only:

And one of these for the greywater:

Which you connect like this:

Please don't do this:

As then all your grey water just runs down into the next person's awning!!!

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
