In my 30s, 3cm self inflating air mat.

Double airbed battery pump duvet under and another on top hopefully be as good as home for us old ones.

Can get a decent metal framed, single camp bed from argos for £15. Has done a decent job for me at a few festivals.

I've never worried about lying on something. After a day walking and jumping around, I'm usually knackered and fall fast asleep within seconds of my head hitting the sleeping bag.

Last year I bought a 5cm thick alpkit self inflating mat - was reaonably light to carry, comfortable to sleep on, much warmer than an air bed. Highly recommended!

I have 3 Alpkits and I'm about to buy a campbed. didn't know Alpkit had stopped making them?! Might be worth selling them on eaby, hopefully will cover the cost of my thermarest camping cot!

Last few years have taken a single basic camp bed and added a foam bed roll 'mattress' for insulation - you can stuff things under it for more floor space too.

I second the 5cm thick self inflating mat for a bit of extra comfort and lift off the floor when the dawn mist causes the temperature to drop. I have tried various camp beds in the past but find that they are just too short in length for me and I never get a good nights sleep on them.

I have come to swear by my Thermarest z-Lite SOL which is a perfect combination of lightness and warmth for me - 410g nothing really

the eggbox texture is odd at first but it's soft enough it's quite massagey and stays firm enough to ride over bumps much better than a normal roll-mat

didn't get on with self-inflators, by the time they got thick enough to be comfortable they were too expensive or heavy

Very comfortable even for, err, a larger fellow like myself, a bit heavy when added to the weight of the tent, beer, etc. but I seem to manage on the train OK

Me and other half have the Coleman dual compartment double air bed. Keeps itself flat so we don't end up in the middle together folded like a taco....
