Camper ticket Help needed please?

I have a small problem that someone paying their balance today might be able to help with.

Myself and my brother are staying in a camper at glastonbury, but in haste we went and got 2 bus combo tickets in the early sale, both thinking that the other would book a normal ticket so they could drive the camper.

Thing is, I have just heard from the glasto office and they said that when we go to pay our balance we will not be offered the chance to buy a campervan ticket coz we're supposed to be in a bus and not driving, which leaves us with a problem - obviously.

They kindly have suggested that we get someone that we know going to buy the ticket for us when they are paying their balance, so we are both firing the feelers out to see if anyone would be interested in this.

In return we would offer the person helping us a lift to and from glastonbury,(from ireland via rosslare) this would be cheaper than someone making their own way to the festival which is the benefit.

If anyone is interested please do get in touch, desperate now

I know someone who caught the bus and collected his mates ticket the met him at the gate a couple of days later, think it was either 2007/2008 so rules have changed since then.

This is what's wrong with the coach packages being advertised as "green". Someone can book two tickets, one go on a gas guzzling bus (albeit with a lot of others) and the other drives a gas guzzling camper van ON THEIR OWN - FROM IRELAND.

And these people get the chance to get their tickets before anyone who wants to cycle / car pool.

Russy, I understand your concern but I can assure you that my dilemma is 100% genuine.

It is me that would be taking the risk, handing over money to someone I have never met, on their word that they have purchased a ticket for me, the person who buys the ticket could always pull out of it and sell the ticket off without a problem.

I have no problem forwarding on someone my contact details in order for them to speak directly to me and then they can decide at that point.

Yog yes your right, like I said 'in haste' I booked both maybe my wording on my OP wasnt correct apologies.

Could someone explain to me how exactly this could be a scam, like I said I am taking all the risk with sending the money in good faith?

In what way does a campervan ticket holder have an advantage over anyone else in the ticket queue? The only difference is that we have the added stress of scrambling for tickets twice and paying an extra £85

The suggestion was that they had some sort of advantage in the queue, which they don't. Or at least I thought that all tickets went on sale at the same time on 6th October. They won't get a campervan ticket now anyway as they will have gone today. i also agree that it was my understanding that you only got your ticket as you got on the bus. No exceptions. If there are exceptions and people can swap tickets, the festival should make that clear.

Ahhhhhhh. I see exactly wher you are coming from. I do agree. He has not really had to queue like the rest of us at all. I've queued twice. Once to get a ticket at all, and then again at 9:00 am today to get the campervan ticket as they go very quickly.

funnily enough I dont feel very lucky Yog. But certainly being nice to someone on the phone when asking for their help, helps!

Bsolxiv, of course I have issues with the situation, and traveling from Ireland in a camper and then one of us getting the bus isnt ideal, for a number of reasons the green or non green element being at the forefront.

My stupidity when originally booking the tickets has gotten us into this mess and I apologies to anyone who maybe pissed off at me for it. I know now from the backlash I am receiving here it undermines my commitment to the green ethos of Glastonbury.
