I could, but she gets angry/stressed enough when trying to get on and I am reluctant to swaddle her as the first thing she does when the milk comes is squeeze her cheeks which looking at Dan's sisters kids is a bit of a family trait. I won't worry about it for now as days out are limited due to me still having high blood pressure and obviously still only early days after birth so I'm knackered after short walk. But, eventually, I don't want breast feeding to prevent days out as a family so I need to learn how to whap out a boob quickly and discreetly. I need some cardigans lol.

I don't care what others think I just don't want everyone seeing everything. I see other mothers doing it so discreetly it just looks like they are cuddling their baby but for us at the moment there's boob and belly everywhere plus a screaming baby struggling to latch on. We are only 2 and a half weeks in though so I'm sure I will get the hang of it. I will check out the H&M vest tops though as most of the mums at the breast feeding clinic said they layer a baggy top over a vest top so they can pull one top down and lift the other up. I also like what Bunique said about clipping everything back in afterwards - that's the whole idea of the bras I got with pull down 'flaps' so I need to learn to utilise that properly. It's getting her on that's the main issue, but I will get there...

You will get there. It's still very, very early days. I'm not a huge fan of seeing such tiny babies out un hugely public places - think of her brand new immune system (especially at this time of year).

Big baggy t shirts were my preferred option.

When you do go out, don't whatever you do forget breast pads. You will get leaky boobs at just the wrong time. Guaranteed!

Go easy on yourself xx

I had a thrasher too, it's a bit more awkward then, but it will get better :)

Ooooo, I'm glad you've said that Bunique!

My Aunty, whom I don't want being able to access my Facebook, also mentioned she had seen a photo of Willow and I was confused as my profile is supposed to be quite private and I haven't accepted her friend request.

How many photos are you able to see as someone who isn't my "friend"??

She said it was one of her on big play mat and if so I don't understand why that one isn't hidden when all the others (hopefully) are? I told her I don't go on Facebook much but truth is I just don't want her noseying at my life!

Quite a few actually! I was a bit surprised! Will go check if I still can though. Possible the photo settings are set to "friends and acquaintances"? I think that may allow "friends of friends" to see them

I can see about 20 of Willow - they look like they are set to "public" as they just have the globe symbol as the privacy setting - may be worth a tinker with!

:(

Blimey! Thank you for checking and i will definitely sort that! I was a bit dubious about having her on there at all but its nice for people I don't see often to be able to see her. Eventually I think I will have one album of her and make sure its definitely only available to friends.

Settings -> Privacy -> Limit Old Posts

Just done it to mine... I do it every couple of weeks to make sure nothing is leaking as I like sharing the pictures of my kids but only with my tight friends list.

Done, I hope. Bunique if you wouldn't mind checking whenever you can that would be fab!

There is literally no science to back up your fears but each to their own :)

Immune systems only get stronger by being exposed to the world not sheltered away.

And breast feeding protects her from the bad things she is exposed to. However, I suspect greenfairy is concerned about serious illnesses Willow hasn't yet been immunised against rather than common 'bugs' and I agree for that reason she shouldn't be around large groups of people. Apart from the breast feeding clinic I have only introduced her to family and friends. We have taken her out for walks most days though (not that she's aware, little sleeper that she is, but its just been us.

How do you upload photos onto FB without it notifying all your friends? I had to open a photobucket account to try and get my mobile pics onto my PC. I managed to sync my mobile with FB, but I don't want it screaming to everyone on my timeline every time I upload a photo.

They don't get there MMR until around one year old... You can't stay locked away until one year old can you :)

Best thing for any baby is getting out and enjoying the world. More science out there that backs that rather than the opposite view :)

True, and no I can't. It's doing my head in already that all I can manage is local half ish hour walk, aldi/tesco, sure start centres and midwife/health visitor appointments.

I am taking her in to work on Wednesday. That's a hell of a lot of people who will want to see her. My old workplace has also asked that I take her there too. She's a popular gal!

I don't know, sorry, just didn't want you thinking this had gone ignored!

Enjoy, I thought the whole point of breastfeeding was to pass on immunities?

Lol, part of the point is, yes - I'm just not sure how it works with the more serious stuff? I don't know, there's a lot of science involved and I've heard things like if she has a certain germ on her mouth when she latches on then my body will quickly start producing milk that counteracts/fights off that particular germ. That's clever!

All I know is, things are getting better every day and as someone who once said she'd probably never have kids and if she did she didn't think she would breast feed - I am a changed woman and whilst tired, la vita e bella!

Yes, I know what you mean. That strong maternal instinct never switches off either - I have to consciously try to avoid mothering colleagues etc. I'm not sure mature adults, especially women, would appreciate it lol

I just fed her while we were out :)

Yes it was a quiet pub and yes only the guy bringing our food had the potential to see anything but still, I'm proud of myself!

I also changed her bum on the floor as there were no baby changing facilities. Is that what you do in that situation?? Or should I have taken her into the ladies and done it on cold hard floor in there? I wasn't sure :/
