I was round a friend's the other day and they dragged out the festival programme from 1986. That year was my first Glasto, and her last - the festival had got too big for her, even back then.

The interview with ME did make me chuckle though, so I took a photo for anyone who might be interested.

Enjoy!

Thanks for that, was an interesting read.

Almost 30 years and things havent changed much. America still illegally invading countries, crap bands still headlining the main stage....

A £100k donation to charity in 1984 equates to £364k in todays money (using average earnings).

I feel like CND have almost lost the battle in this country. So many people think nuclear power is the answer to our energy needs, and that Trident is required. It's really very depressing. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

CND don't help themselves by telling lies.

I had a (in fairness very good debate) with some guys from CND this year.

After I pointed it out though, they admitted that their material was factually incorrect. They didn't, however, remove or edit it. A group behind us who were listening to the debate with interests, shook their heads and walked off when they learned the truth.

Still, a very interesting debate and nice, if a little naive, guys from the CND stand.

yeah. sorry. Its just that given Teddington's total lack in understanding of what socialism is, what communism is, what .. well... anything is, I genuinely struggle to believe that he is able to out debate a toddler, let alone out debate a grown adult and CND activist using facts and figures.

Oh dear. Just because other people agree with your point of view, doesn't make you right.

What's the point of me posting on here the debate that I had? Not very interesting for most. Suffice to say that if you could be arsed to dig out the information that they used at Glasto, and look up the actual information, then you would find errors in their material.

e.g. their information on Trident was incorrect.

Jesus, want me to wipe your arse for you as well?

You were the one suggesting my debating skills were non-existant- I'm sure a man of your intellect can identify the facts, compare them to the material the CND were displaying and draw your own conclusions.

Why would Jesus want you to wipe his arse?

Weird.

Back to topic. Why is your particular source for trident "the facts" and the CND's made up? I'm ready to believe you, if you're right, but you're not giving me anything here, Teddy boy

Just point me in the direction of this material.

I already have.

Look at the material regarding Trident that the CND used on their stand at Glastonbury.

Look at a relevant source of the same material e.g. Janes fighting ships

Look at any relevant changes to government policy regarding the nuclear deterrent.

    • As someone that always likes looking at this stuff, compare the BBC opening titles...     ... and the ITV ones.     Tbf the BBC intro is better than the ones they used for the last World Cup, which I thought were pretty bad and on its own, the BBC choice actually isn't too bad. It's not as good as their pinball one for the last Euros, but the concept is reasonable. But let's be real, the ITV one is better.

    • Another new one from Overmono.   Album is shaping up nicely.
    • I'm only judging by highlights but considering that I saw a lot of anxieties from US fans about them getting it wrong after several bad results in the last year or so, they very much had it on opening night. Might be as much about Paraguay being a long way from the team that beat Brazil and Argentina in qualifying though.   Canada also doing something in a World Cup other than lose and arguably be good enough to have beaten Bosnia means reasonable start. Think they might regret not winning though.
