Blocking a ticket?

Right, although we have told them and told him to put his ticket somewhere safe one of our group left it on his mantlepiece in an envelope with his spending money...

His house was broken into over the weekend and low and behold the burglar saw an envelope full of money and has pocketed it amongst other things, police are involved so he has a crime reference number.

We do have a spare female ticket so at the moment he is contemplating a wig and lippy, but given he looks like big show from WWF its not looking like a good idea so we might have to try and get one elsewhere and risk it... (insurance are going to pay out his ticket money to him)

Now there's being gutted because there's a good chance he might now be missing the festival but knowing that some thieving scumbag could be in there having the time of his life on your expense will be devastating,

So my query is ..... is there anyway Glastonbury could cancel the ticket so it categorically cant be used? I know that tickets don't come with any sort of bar code on so not sure if they could block it that way but surely there is some way of cancelling an issued ticket?

I have emailed the festival office but not getting a response at the minute (I know they are going to be mega busy)

Or has anyone ever had a ticket stolen and had it reissued? I know that the t & c's state that they wont be, just wondering if there has ever been any exceptions?

They must be able to issue a replacement, especially in circumstances like this. It's not like the fella just lost his ticket by being careless.

Surely if you've got the police report etc then they'll be able to re-issue the ticket?

see tickets must have a policy for this type of event, try them before the festival office

Not sure it says on the terms that they will not be replaced.. I'm just waiting for a response from them

This year has been a nightmare, normally just go down as a couple with my ex and never have any problems... This time I'm going down in a group of 30 and it's just been one thing after another.

Hi sorry to hear your mate got his ticket and money stolen, your house should be a safe place!! I can't really help no use I know!! but have you also contacted see tickets? I found this on their website maybe they will be able to help as he has crime reference etc?

Unfortunately See cannot replace lost or stolen tickets.

If you have mislaid your tickets or think they have been stolen, the first step is to contact us here and we'll see what we can do to help. However, please note most types of tickets can not be replaced due to loss.

For example most general admission or standing tickets cannot be reissued as that might mean the venue would exceed its capacity, contravene health and safety and therefore jeopardise it's license. The good news is that for some events, tickets can be reissued and in this case they're usually left at the box office for collection. You may be asked to complete an indemnity form stating you have lost the tickets.

If the police are being as helpful as you say you would hope some common sense would prevail? Maybe the police could call on his behalf? I would be trying absolutely anything to get things sorted and using all possible means.

He does sound like a right plum your friend to be honest, with money and ticket left on a mantlepiece and not knowing that Brazil is actually just outside Melton Mowbray..

Still, all the very best of luck and keep us informed, a bit more drama leading up the the big day to keep us occupied.

I would be very surprised if SeeTickets didn't replace the ticket in the circumstances described. They probably put that they will not do so in the T&C's to deter people from scamming them for another ticket, but in this case you have proof it was stolen and I am sure they will do everything they can to help. If the ticket had got lost in the post they would have replaced it, so I am sure they would do so with a genuinly stolen ticket as long as they get a crime number and theft report.

How hard is it to fit any sort of question on twitter? almost found myself typing in 'text speak' trying to fit it all in!

Not holding out much hope for him but the least we can do is try.....

We'll get him in somehow because someone else in our group is 50/50 so he will probably give his ticket up now, would just be nice for it to be with his ticket he's paid for himself!
