Shooting sticks?

Does anyone have any experience of using shooting sticks or similar for relieving aches when standing for long periods at festivals? Are they worth lugging around?

Personally I like those little tripod stools you can buy in camping shops. Small and light to carry, don't get in the way like a chair does, but handy to sit on if it's muddy.

Unless you want to be right at the front (in which case you should be standing up anyway) you'll not find a problem finding space to sit down on your shooting stick. Chairs are generally annoying as they take up lots of room, but shooting sticks aren't especially space-hungry.

Fire stewards in some tented stages (John Peel, Avalon, Acoustic etc.) might ask people not to sit on anything if it's full, but at Pyramid, Other, West Holts, Park etc. you won't have a problem finding somewhere further back to sit down, and you'll see that lots of people are doing so.

i agree with Mrs p&p only trouble i found was falling off balance cos of the cider i was drinking ..........................i blamed the stick of course lol .

im disabled so if it is M [dont say the word ] them i do tend to take a chair mainly cos i cant stand for long periods it not just the cider lol but i try not to use the platforms if pos because it makes you feel abit i dont know different i try and just be one of the crowd ......i dont look disabled and i think theres always some one who could use that space ...........if that makes sense ....

one other thing if you get a shooting stick get a good one old son mine was an old one and it spilt after to many falls...........not good ..and again i blame the stick not the cider

we both have shooting sticks and have used them 5 times at glastonbury.

my wife never really got used to sitting on one but once you get used to relaxing and balancing on it, i found it very handy for a quick sit down while just wandering about or when having a snack.

just open out seat and sit back and watch the world go by

the double handle took some getting used to a it takes a full spread of fingers to walk holding it but it can be slung over shoulder with attached strap.

we also decorated them with glow sticks so that people could see them in the dark as we have had sticks accidentally kicked away when walking along an a crowd.

I had one of them little 3 legged stools and i used it quite a bit , I attached it to my little back pack what i carried my daily supply of pear koppaberg cider I carried round with me But this year I am bringing a shooting stick as when i sit down in the middle of the crowd on the little stool you feel a bit in the way. Plus after the mud of 2011 the shooting stick will come in very handy as a third leg as that mud's like glue
