Feel this deserves an update as I had fun and the telescope was still truly amazing.

We did the Sigur Ros/Halle nights at the end of August and it was very good. Not enough food outlets, but perfectly pleasant little thing but more of the extended gig variety of event than a festival. First entry to the arena was after midday and the campsite is far away.

Dainty camping in Holmes Chapel on the rugby pitch. There is a trainline right nextdoor with an unmerciful sunday morning timetable so earplugs are a must, but showers and toilets are available.

Performances were good, sound was good for a fair distance back through the crowd and the telescope makes for a fantastic setpiece/projection screen

If you are into the science side of the place too then it really is very exciting. There's not a lot to play with but it's an hard-to-beat bonus - having them rotate it to 'performance coordinates' to sounds from space arranged by sigur ros themselves, or slowly gracefully pirouetting towards us to the blue danube waltz were quite special moments

The APF/NO weekend earlier in the year was apparently an absolute corker and there are some great photos online
