Dunno about cab prices, will check if I think on, my mate stayed in Lisbon for last years fest. We stayed down the coast in Estoril but, depending on what time you leave, you can get the train back into Lisbon (or down the coast for that matter), station is right outside the festival grounds. Think the last train we got was 12:45, so potential to miss some stuff depending on stage times

Can't go this year unfortunately, too close to Glastonbury for my wallet to handle. If I recall correctly my mate paid 20-30 euro for a cab back to Lisbon, taxi's were pretty cheap in general. Plus, you're only taking a cab one way as you can just jump on the train to get to the festival in the day. Probably be plenty of people getting cabs so a share might even be possible.

Unless your apartment is more than 30euro a night more cheaper to be near the festival, I think you will be up on the deal if you stay in Lisbon and take a cab home. Plus, if you are there for more than the 3 days of the festival, there is probably more to see and do in Lisbon (you can take the train down the coast and go to the beaches if you wanted a day out of the city - Estoril has a casino).

Edited to add..........

All that said, I think there is a nightbus you can get back into Lisbon. Travel on public transport is cheap and you can buy a travel card thing for about 0.50 euro like an oyster card I suppose) that you load money onto and just swipe when you get on the bus or train.

So wish I was going back this year! Glastonbury calls though!

@DOLMO definitely stay in Lisbon taxis back are cheap enough we used to get the train back to to the centre & then taxi to apartment which was in the north of Lisbon near the main bus station. And

It was only about 10 euros.

Plenty of taxis about after queue is pretty big but go under the train subway to the other side where

McDonald's is and the queue is shorter.

Have fun and if you have any questions feel free to ask. The metro/train service is also excellent get an apartment close to one of those stops if you can.

It seems the Lisbon apartments are a better option all round then..cheers for that. We are staying for a week so it looks like Lisbon will give us more scope to explore and maybe spend the money we saved on taxis in the casino! Enjoy Glasto and thanks again for your help :-)

Hi,

This is my first time to Optimus, only have benicassim, Iow, leeds and V to compare.

Should we expect any more announcements of big names?

I thought there could be room for one more on saturday?

Is this festival smaller than Beni?

Thanks for any help,

Cheers,

Heather. :)

So Crystal Fighters are new to the bill!

Does anybody of you have a clue whether Vampire Weekend and Death From Above 1979 are likely to play at the same time? Or is it impossible by looking at the line up poster to predict that? It's just that this is my first time Optimus Alive and despite the fact that the headliners are rubbish (except for DM) i'm looking the most forward to these two bands and if they clash i would be devastated ;- )

Also a question in relation to the camping site: We're arriving a few days earlier and leaving a few days after the festival (we're doing an europe-trip) - is there a possibility to protect your important stuff like lockers or something like that?

How is it with alcohol drinking? You're probably not allowed to bring your drinks to festival site, but on the camping site that's no problem, isnt it?

Thanks, byebye
