If you get a workers ticket

It depends on your job and your boss. Some people miss or are well late for (or barely capable of) the occasional shift due to illness, oversleeping, being on another astral plane, etc, if they do a good job otherwise they might come back and work again, if they piss off all their co-workers and their boss they might well get blacklisted, it's easier to get blacklisted on the larger crews (litterpicking, oxfam stewards) than smaller teams, I would imagine as they have more turnover and most of the smaller crews are made up of regulars with a number of new people coming through each year (greenfields stewards).

From the festival it's self? Definitely not (a friend gave up working in 05 as festival-employed security after working a couple of shifts because where he had been forced to pitch his tent ended up being in the middle of a river.)

From the specific organisation/section that employed you? Quite possibly.

There is no provision that I am aware of to block individuals from buying tickets. You can be barred from re-entry by having your wristband/ticket seized if you are really guilty of something bad, but still be able to buy a ticket the following year, I believe.

I personally wish there was some sort of 'regular attendees' list that those of us who keep going for what is hidden in the heart of the place could have preferential treatment for tickets/working positions and a seperate 'not welcome' list that kept people out who had caused problems in the past, but that is just too much to expect from a single event, even one as complex and organic an entity as glastonbury.

Definitely not from what I've seen - heard of other people as well as my mate going in further years after abandoning work.

In the case of my mate for that festival, the security did try and stop him taking his stuff out of the camping area to move in with us, but pointing out that it was completely unreasonable to camp in what was still a river and they relented.

(In the end, while they missed out on him working, he was going to lose his ticket deposit, so effectively worked a couple of shifts for free for them, so they didn't do badly either.)

There is a central "do not employ" list for people who've signed up to work for Oxfam, Greenpeace, Recycling Crew, etc but skipped their shifts. Presumably it's not definitive, can't imagine a tiny stallholder manages their staff in the same way as the major groups do.

Never heard of anyone being blocked from buying a ticket though, and doubt the Festival would bother.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
