Raincoats/poncho advise

as the weather this year is VERY unpredictable- i thought we could all give eachother advise on raincoat/poncho/coat/hoodie choices.

ive gone for my old faithfull North Face...its a very lightweight raincoat that is fleece lined, saving the need to also carry a hoody around. and it was only 40 quid in the sale at millets. ive had it for years now and is still as good as new.

although it WILL be sunny so hopefully this thread will be null and void!

Anyone know where I can pickup a properly waterproof but lightweight coat for a bargain price?

Got a good waterproof but it is more of a winter beast and will only be used in the night.

Not that I will need it. but...... bought one of those German surplus poncho's years ago at the fest £10, is great and totally waterproof, it's all rubbery

Went to an army surplus store yesterday. Got a gore-tex dutch army jacket fully lined and wterproof for £27. Plenty of pockets for fags and beers and I also look awesome in it. Or so I think.

It doesn't really matter though as it will be scorchio!

I'm taking my Gore-Tex waterproof jacket this year. Other years I've tried a poncho and a cheap waterproof, both of which leaked.

I think the weather forecast is improving though?

go into blacks or millets- i popped in today and they have north face rain macs for 19.99 reduced from 60 quid- BARGAIN! go out an buy one, then thank me later

I've got this leopard print mac thing that looks fab but is probably about as waterproof as my arse.

If the weather does proove to be terrible, will I be able to get something a bit better actually at the festival?

I use a cycling cape which is big enough to cover a backpack, long enough to stop any wet dripping down my legs and lets air circulate so I don't get too hot, looks a bit odd but works. Also it is big enough to act as a seat for at least 2 people if the ground is wet.

No, it's big and wide enough that it allows plenty of air round it. It's that wide it fits over the chair when sitting down

Whatever you do ladies, avoid Primark or other cheap throw away fashion type water proofs because guess what are not water proof. I learnt my lessons well.

Can I suggeset checking out Sports Direct. I bought myself a perfect Karrimor waterproof jacket there a couple weeks ago and it was only £28 reduced from £80. Fairly good selection there too. Got mine from the store at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol.

If it pisses down, you want a pvc poncho -£5 from argos etc or an old theme park one. Hill walking waterproofs just don't cut it in heavy relentless rain.

Quite small -you can shove it in your pocket or use it and as a mat to sit on if it's just a bit damp.

Has big slits up the sides so plenty of ventilation.

The army surplus ones/ cycling cape ones are just as waterproof but bulkier.

Anyway, as it's going to be sunny ignore all the above.
