are you currently on job seekers allowance, I actually put this off for about 2 months before I realised I was being stupid not to do it as it pays my NI contributions etc. (I kept on kidding myself that a job would land into my lap)

Week after I signed on work finally came my way. Sods law B)

DVDs also

any of those survey websites

oh, check martins money (this man knows his stuff) http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/ - this week he says... you can do a free 30day lovefilm and get a 10pound topshop voucher (to sell or to fund a pair of glasto socks, lol, as we know that £10 doesn't get you anywhere at topshop)

this includes his own boost income page http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/make-money . good luck mate x

Do you wanna do the backbreaking carrying stuff together? I need money too and most people will be arriving in groups...

The laughing gas is illegal but i wouldn't say you'd get arrested for it, more likely to get searched and confiscated, probably given a warning.

Go to Chorlton st bus station in City centre Manchester and hang around there between 10 pm and say 03 am on a Friday and Saturday night and you'll make some money, but it may be painful...pmsl.. you'll make even more money if you dress like one of the village people.....lmao

Mystery shopping is fun. Basically you visit places such as council offices, check to see if they have for example forms in large print. Once home you email the mystery shopping agency with how helpful the staff were, how polite, how clean the place was etc and earn about £20 quid a visit!

If you are still desperate and jobless. It maybe worth applying for a crisis loan from the jobcentre. You may have to tell a few porkies and you do have to pay it back (so don't feel too guilty). It is interest free thhrough and almost instantly paid to you :)

I'm having to sell my PS3 to fund Glasto this year due to being made unemployed. I am f**king gutted but at least I know the money is going to a good cause & I will make sure I enjoy every penny I spend.

Well, after collecting all my stuff from various parts of the house this weekend, I appear to the proud owner of a trolley which has only one handle!

If anyone wanted to cart all my stuff from the carparks for me I'd pay!

(think the handle might be in my sons bedroom, but it smells like teenage boys in there and I don't fancy my chances of getting out alive if I go in and look for it!)

RE: Laughing gas idea....

Watch out, the security were hot on the heels of laughing gas canisters last year, We had a couple of dispensers with us and about 300 canisters (for our own group, not really for resale). However, they both got confiscated by security; as soon as they hear the shwoosh sound they're on the hunt like an army of hungry rats...

However, if you can avoid them at night time I was able to sell one balloon for £5 simply by saying, look I don't really want to sell this as its for myself and my friends and people are happy enough to pay it! I made something like £150 in next to no time one evening in the late night area; so paid for me to go the bars and get plenty of "free" alcohol!

I know this is kind of generally discouraged, but why don't you make a bit of money at the festival by selling stuff? By stuff I mean laughing gas, vodka jellies or shots of watered down spirits.

I've seen people up by the stone circle with a cream dispenser and bag full of balloons/Nitrous Oxide canisters selling them for £1-£1.50 a balloon. They were absolutley mobbed, and prob selling at least 60-100 per hour. If you buy in bulk you can get Nos for 30p a canister LINK

I've also seen people with trays of vodka jellies they've made and bought in a cool box, or a chilled thermos with things like Tuaca which have been diluted slightly to maximise profits, again all selling for a decent markup.

Some people on here might be against such practises, but me personally, when I'm off my head by the Brothers Bar, in front of the Pyramid or up at the Stone Circle etc. a friendly person selling something uplifting like laughing gas or a shot is welcomed.

You could also sell glow sticks. I've just bought a pack of 100 glow stick necklace things to hand out to my friends, off eBay for £7! I'm sure there's a decent mark up in those too.

I'm not talking about ripping people off, and some people will say the prices I've mention do constitute a rip off, but people pay for convenience, particularly drunk/high in the middle of a field in Somerset! Good luck to those people making a bit of profit to pay for their festival I say!

A couple of ideas for you anyway....

Bear in mind that the T&Cs on the back of the ticket prohibit any trading on site, unless you've gone through the application process and paid the festival for the privilege.

So whether you're selling duty free booze, pot, heroin, nitrous, Mars bars, carrying bags or pitching tents, it's enough to get you evicted if you happen to get caught by anyone who gives a shit.

Me, I just put a load of my old video games on eBay and got £220 for 'em. That'll pay for beer and meals all weekend, with some to spare.

I'm in a similar situation too now. Supposed to be payday Friday but have a very strong feeling this won't happen as boss has been messing up with payments a lot lately  I don't mind going to Glastonbury with no money, but I have my sisters hen do weekend after so if it came to it I'd have to try and sell my ticket to fund that. My pictures pretty blurry.. As gutted as I'd feel she is far more important to me. Will obviously wait until Friday to see what happens but might try and ebay some things this week but fear it might be a bit too late.

I've seen a few people on these boards with the same kind of situation and I really hope everyone manages to sort them out and enjoy the best festival ever :)

Envirofone and mazuma are good if you have loads of old phones laying around, they're quite quick with payments too.

Thumbs, empty plastic bottle, sleeping bag, plastic sheet, wellies and a jacket. These are things that most people are lucky to already have and are your only real festival essentials apart from actually being at the festival. You will find enough unopened alcohol to get you through the weekend lying around and you could pick up lots of stuff folks leave behind to sell after (Womble membership card not necessary). The most important thing is to go.

    • Policing is very relaxed, provided you stay within your lines I'd say. I don't think we're supposed to have an event shelter as well as a tent next to our van, but we've done it without issue for years. It's a happy vibe up there.
    • Do feel a lot more cynical about the Mercury now. Given the awards show is now an arena event, there's clearly a pressure on them to nominate mainstream acts in order to sell tickets for it. And not saying that Jade and Knats don't deserve to be nominated (haven't listened to either), but the fact the event is in Newcastle can't have nothing to do with that... (not to mention Fender winning last year, which frankly was a joke)    Hard not to agree with this: https://www.clashmusic.com/features/this-years-mercury-prize-is-a-pivot-towards-the-mainstream/
