Hari Krishna tent

It is one of my favourite places in the festival. I spend a large chunk of Thursday night there every year and love getting carried away with it. There is no risk of them trying to indoctrinate anyone, they are just happy to see you happy and joining in with the chanting and dancing gives them all the satisfaction they require. I've never seen an unhappy hare krishna!

I've taken friends there who totally didn't get it, I've taken family members who totally did. Thursday night at the krishna tent in '99 was one of the most uplifting experiences of my life.

I'm agnostic, by the way, don't care what anyone else choses to believe and wouldn't try to convince anyone that my own beliefs are correct. I like that I can go there and meet people with different beliefs but the same basic viewpoint.

Yeah, I know what you mean, however after nearly 20 years of visiting their tents at glastonbury and phoenix I've yet to get any more indoctrinated than feeling good towards them. I lost almost all my money on the Friday at phoenix in '94 and they fed me for every meal from that point on.

They aren't asking you to believe, to be honest, they are enjoying the fact that people are celebrating their god, basically and as I say, having spent almost a full day of my life in combined time in their tents now I've yet to have received more encouragement than a pretty girl encouraging me to have a dance (they are always pretty girls! damn them and their wiles!)

I totally get how alot of people have a natural dislike of organised religion, I have some quite strong views about the actions of the catholic church over the centuries and what some people are doing and saying in the name of both islam and christianity is repulsive to any right thinking person.

I thoroughly recommend spending a chunk of anyone's Thursday evening there though, there is something about the rhythmic repetition that I enjoy for the same reasons as the underworld track currently playing on r6 ;)

All together now...you bring light in, you bring light in, hare hare..

The jewish tent has been next door the last couple of years also, it is tiny and, on occasion, packed to capacity (about 20) with flashing lights and insane music going on. Spirit of '71 is located there this year, it seems, so I wonder if they will move to another location in holts.

    • I'd assume he's out of the nominal price range, but... stranger things have happened. Bit Marmite, isn't he, though?
    • Know that it isn't unheard of for a band to headline Glastonbury - for I assume that is all Fontaines would accept now - and play their own stadium/outdoor shows in the same summer, but it feels unusual for British/Irish acts, no?
    • Is anyone attending the Morcheeba/Faithless gig(s) on 10th? Our flight time has been brought forward slightly and, although I can't imagine we'd get there in time for Morcheeba, I think Faithless is doable.
    • I Was There the last time Kyie appeared to do this - 2018ish at APE.  What a treat.  What do you think of the current setlist? Am seeing him next Friday, all being well.
    • I havnt even seen the booking page since 2018 i think, its been absolutely brutal - prior to that i was 'the fella with the knack of sorting out everyone's tickets' cos i'd lead with the groups and the organisation of it all, and tended to be the first one through and sorting out a great swathe of us, and now i'm a know-nothing bum again 😄
