Ice Cold Cans

They don't let you do that now. It used to be that there were people wandering everywhere selling cans, I haven't seen any the last couple of years, just vodka jelly sellers (which is not a cold refreshing can of beer!). Unauthorised sellers seem to be a no no with the organisers these days, I haven't seen fag sellers recently either.

I don't have a problem with it personally, I'd pay £5 for a couple of ice cold cans if I was in a crowd and £5 for three if they were just cool.

I used to think that a non-chocolate hobnob was a complete waste of time, however I recently wolfed down an entire packet of plain and discovered their naive charm. Any biscuit becomes better if you add chocolate, just like any meal becomes better if you add bacon or cheese.

Really? Never saw one myself the last 2 years, good to hear it. In '09 there was a lad on sunday with a huge sports bag of cans of stella, I asked if he was selling and he looked at me like I was mental, apparently he was just trying to cart beers to his mates for the evening (this was about 4 cases of stella in an enormous bag, came to my attention cos he was fighting to stop them spilling on the floor and failing). I negotiated the price of 3 for a fiver anyway, he had lots of beer and no cash, I had cash but no beer.

Selling alcohol requires a licence, and people found selling cans (eg; to under age people) threaten GF's own entertainments licence which is why they are so harsh on it nowadays. Instead of selling them for cash, why not see what else you can swap them for :-) I've seen people selling cans in the past couple of years though, but not very many of them and as to how 'ice cold' they were is anyone's guess. Give it a go, but as others have said you run the risk of getting kicked out, you also run the risk of having your beer taken from you in the process. Would agree with prices, £5 for 3 cans is fair, but if I was by myself and didn't want to lug 3 of them around and watch them get warm I'd be happy to pay £2 per can... jesus, if ice cream vans can charge £2 for a 250ml bottle of water then you can sure as hell charge £2 for a 440ml can of stella/redstripe etc.

If you are going to do it though, take a leaf out of the drug dealers in The Wire ie; don't hold the beer & sell at the same time. Have someone in charge of guarding/distributing the beer, and then simply go out and get orders, then get the beer from the stash return them to your customer and take the money... and have a couple of spotters to keep an eye out for the rozzers.

I'm considering bringing some ciggies to sell... They will cut off my wristband if I'm caught? Will they stop me coming in if I have a couple of cartons in my bag? Will the 'I'm a heavy smoker, about 60 a day' excuse cut it?

Really need some extra cash for the weekend, but I'm sketching a bit now

Any queries about how many fags you have: "We are a big group mate, if you think I've got alot of fags you should see my poor mate still struggling in the car park with the beers!"

They can query if you are intending to sell, even suggest they think you are, however as long as you stick to your guns you should be fine (more than 4 sticks and you might have a job convincing them, though), try and clear as many as you can in the car parks (subtly) before going in maybe?

    • Lets get the ball rolling then...  The dates are confirmed for 22nd-25th July. As for acts, the headliners recently seem to be a big solo 70s/80s name and then 2 MOTR crowd pleasers so worth seeing who starts being announced for places from the autumn  I had seen Sam Fender is reportedly doing outdoor shows next year so could see him as the act who ends up doing here, IoW and TRNSMT  Florence and the Machine would be an absolute dream but not sure if she'll be touring 2 years in a row  Id seen also George Ezra was spotted at the festival this year so I'm sure he'll shuffle his way in somehow!  Let the speculation begin...

    • Feels like Rush's structure is set up for days off after shows tbf. They have a night off after all 3 shows in London, and I'm assuming somebody else has snuck into the gaps and put in a show.
    • I'm bemused why Jaissle hasn't been confirmed yet. If he and his coaches are already there, surely the paperwork to send this through must be somewhat sorted and confirmation imminent, no?   Feel like clubs are soft on tapping up now as an industry, right? I swear most deals seem to be a case that personal terms are agreed beforehand. In an older life, this Bruno deal has a potential case imo given the use of intermediaries to plant a seed in Bruno's mind this was a good idea (much I'm prepared to accept last season's mess would likely have had Bruno doubting if he wanted to stay regardless) but the industry seems more forgiving of this stuff at present. Wind seems to be picking up that a deal is about to happen regardless. Shame as I'd have been more willing to accept a move to Real Madrid but it is what it is.   Would be nice if we could show some more balls with this stuff tbf. Feel like the owners are taking a strange lesson from Isak last year in that now, we just have to let everyone go at the first sign of trouble, even though other clubs in a similar boat to us are seemingly more willing to turn back and tell pursuers to f**k off.
    • I wouldn't. U2 would almost certainly be doing stadiums and Muse have been saying they have stadium shows booked. They're the likelier of the two to be doing BST Hyde Park, but my expectations would be to expect them turning up at a stadium.
