Hi,

I'm thinking about ordering tickets for me, my girlfriend, and 2 and a half year old little girl.

Can you tell me how many people go to the festival?

Also, we're not going to be able to get there until Thursday night. Will there still be space in the family camping field at that time, or does the space fill up quite quickly?

I've only really been to Glastonbury before, and the camping space fills up VERY quickly there. Is it the same here?

Finally, if you've been before, where is it normally held? and when do you find out the actual location?

If you can answer any of the questions above it'll be a great help.

Thanks

Mark

Our first Shambala this year too.

After many years of doing Glasto wanted to try a smaller festival with a Glasto vibe ready for no Glasto next year.

More and more each year I find I spend more time at Glasto at Jazzworld / circus / cabaret areas , so Shambala looked a good choice.

Couple of questions for those that have been ..

Does much go on during the Thursday?

How do practical things like loos & camping compare to Glasto?

Any other tips / advice for first time Shambala goers?

Always wanted to play at Shambala? Now is your chance!

Following the roaring success of their Making Tracks shows in London, where fresh and exciting short films are given live rescores by The Cabinet of Living Cinema, Whirlygig Cinema are taking this groundbreaking event to The Lost Picture Show at Shambala. But instead of having a professional live re-score band perform the soundtracks to films, they are opening it up to the general public.

So we are looking for a bunch of people who have a ticket for the festival and are up for getting involved in this exciting experiment. The idea is simple: we play the films, and you play the music in front of a live audience. If you’ve always fancied yourself as the next Michael Nyman or Hans Zimmer, now is your chance! Find out more...

first time for me too......brought a ticket from e-bay that's included a camper van pass. Can anyone tell me whether the camper van field is inside or outside the festival? Don't fancy putting up a tent in a field that's outside, in which case would there be a problem with us leaving the car in the camper field and walking the tent over to the main area and camping there?

Also heard there is a silent disco thing after 2 so does the site keep going all night?

We have a load of return train tickets from London St Pancras to Market Harborough(nearest station to Shambala) for sale (going spare after they were originally bought for getting festival crew to site).

They are return tickets, leaving this Thursday morning from St Pancras and on Monday afternoon after the festival from Market Harborough.

We are selling them at £15, at least £5 cheaper than the going rate. Message me with your number if you are interested.

Thanks!

    • f**king horrendous and seems they couldn’t run an egg and spoon race.  zero info and the crush waiting to get in to see Massive Attack was potentially disasterous. Zero info, no stewards at all and was told that the whole evening was cancelled, when we got to the exit. Because it rained. First time attendee and i’ve got onsay, i’m far from impressed. Scalping bastard taxis asking €37 plus for an €11 fare too. Wonderdul.
    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
    • Hey guys, is there a group going for any solo y not goers this year?? I couldn’t miss out once I saw the acts but it’s just me and would be great to meet some others:))
    • After deciding to abandon the festival, here's a few of my thoughts (mostly negative tbf).    On the positive side - was it just me or were there a few more urinals than last year? Seemed to help the queues at the loos a bit from what i saw. Plus they had at least had some foresight and had a few more covered areas in the VIP areas.    Now on the negatives.  The weather was admittedly pretty crap but it wasn't apocalyptic. How the actual f**k are bits of the main stage falling off in those conditions?  Then the communication was awful, there's a load of people who left the site because they were told by security guards/other personnel that there would be no more acts on the main stage this evening.  You have an app Primavera, use it! Yes, there's a shitload going on I'm sure but communication with the festivalgoers should be one of the top priorities. You failed.    And I'm not usually somebody who buys into the whole "oh this is hugely unsafe and it's lucky people weren't hurt" narrative, but all the above led to movements of people that were genuinely unsafe.  Evacuating Mordor entirely (again... Why???) and then having a horde of people trying to get in because they thought they were going to Massive Attack was insane.  And given a lot of people basically abandoned ship around 10.30pm the crush at both the exit to the festival and the entrance to the Metro was pretty dangerous.   Conditions happen, most people will get that....but the contingencies have to be better.
    • You'd think that something like bad weather was in the basics of festival planning. After the shitshow of Madrid, you'd think they'd learnt their lesson, apparently not...
