Leaving 4am Monday

Every year we leave on Monday morning, no alarm just wake up when we are ready and go. The trouble with this is the traffic is murder. This year I plan to stop drinking about midnight, get a few hours sleep then leave about 4am. I'll probably still be over the limit and wondered if there are many old bill about at this time and the likelyhood of getting pulled.

I'm going to assume this is a wind up yes?

It's not about "old bill" it's about personal responsibility - don't drink and drive, a danger to yourself and others.

If you have to leave that early hold off on the drink on Sunday, or, have a lie in, relax and go home much later.

Simples.

Aye. If you want to leave early, back away from the booze early too.

Is it really too hard to stop drinking about 8pm after taking it reasonably easy on Sunday? It's not as if you have to be tee-total from Wed-Sat!

But, to answer your question, it seems people are leaving earlier now (just like they arrive earlier). It depends which car park you are in as to how easy it is to get out.

Hmmmm, tricky one this. That's the time I usually leave and I'd recommend it.

That said I've got a bad feeling you're serious about the drink driving thing...

Solution: Yes, there are lots of police around then. Hundreds of them. Don't even think about it.

Good work Tommmy, I just can not believe they still continue to take the bait, and as long as they do you should continue reeling them in: "hook, line, sinker, rod and copy of Angling Times!"

I look forward to your next posting, good work :)

I was thinking of popping into the kidz field and asking some random kids “does this chloroform smell funny to you?” … only thing is my kids are too old … what are the chances of borrowing someone’s kid to get me in?

I seemed to have stirred up a hornets nest here, so I had better clarify. At midnight I will be in quite a state, much too drunk to drive. However by 4am I won't be too bad, whilst it may still be illegal, I feel it would be safe. Many things are illegal but it doesn't mean they are wrong, how many of you will be taking drugs during Glastonbury weekend?

  • 3 weeks later...

Left at around 5am last year, plenty of peeps on the way out and car park was a joke, Queued for at least 2 hours whilst they filtered about 3 fields out through 1 gate. There is no good time to leave Monday morning just need to be ready.....

I hope there will be a loads of old bill around so they can pull you over and bang you up. Yes people probably do illegal thing every day and yes there will be people taking drugs at glasto. But you know what i bet they wont be putting other peoples lives in danger just there own. If you have that much of a drink problem that you cant just lay off it for one night then I would try these people www.alcoholics-anonymous.org.uk/

    • Brazil's first half was genuinely dreadful all round, not just the midfield, so they're absolutely not bulletproof. Whether Scotland have the quality to take advantage is a different question.   Tbf, that's as much on Morocco looking good, which I did think was a possibility. They could be a bit annoyed with themselves not to have scored more before Vini's goal tbh.
    • Surely nowadays with so much data analytics available on every division in world football and so much awareness that people aren't suckered in on the basis of a decent World Cup game... right?   Although tbf, from what I saw, Australia's game plan worked very well. But that was as much thanks to Turkey blowing varying opportunities given they created enough chances but couldn't finish, a la what happened with Switzerland against Qatar when they really could and should've won by 3/4 goals.
    • I missed Viagra Boys for a good spot for Gorillaz. Was a nice weekend and festival for me. Would definitely come back, if the line up is right. Get back home safe everyone.
    • The Last Temptation - new Heaven 17 documentary film directed by James Strong. Premiered at Sheffield Docfest this weekend.    I really enjoyed it. Affectionate, insightful, and honest. A nice mix of archival and footage, interviews and clips from the last tour. Martyn and Glenn are like an old married couple.   Plus a snippet of news from the Q&A, Martyn is recording new BEF material, and Phil Oakey has collaborated on the one of tracks. The film shows them meeting in Fagans for the first time in over 35 years.
    • Glad I’ve still got it booked off for my 50th
