I believe Allen had a bit of a temper on him when he first turned pro (although he was also got banned as an amateur from the Northern Ireland team for being disrespectful to his opponent) and the event which caused friction between him and Doherty was;

"While Allen's scrapes have not been quite so serious, he was branded "a disgrace" by Irishman Ken Doherty after an incident at the 2007 Aberdeen Grand Prix.

During a match between the pair Allen was told by the referee that he would receive an official warning if he did not curb his behaviour.

Allen's response was: 'Well f*****g warn me then!'. In the post-match press conference the normally mildmannered Doherty launched into a savage criticism of Allen, insisting the youngster needed to "grow up".

Allen, who had put Doherty out of the World Championship earlier that year, insisted the 1997 Champion was simply a bad loser."

Yes, great shame about Paul Hunter. Whilst it would ultimately have made no difference, when he was ill the snooker authorities didn't have a mechanism in place to 'protect' a player's ranking if he was seriously ill so, apparently, Hunter felt compelled to play even when he really wasn't well enough to do so in order to try and get a few ranking points so that he wouldn't tumble down the rankings. Although, after his death, the WPBSA/WSA did bring in a rule that, if a player is seriously ill, that his ranking points would be 'protected'/carried forward so that he wouldn't be disadvantahed snooker-wise by being ill.

I think that certainly would have been the case if Bingham had beaten Ding last night and Hendry would have dropped out of the top 16. As it is, i think Hendry will pick and choose his tournaments next season and call it a day after that (unless he has some sort of rennaissance of form). I think Higgins had it right yesterday when he said that Steve Dvies carried on playing because he loved snooker, but Hendry loved winning and that was the difference.

hendry has just said he will be back playing snooker at the world, witch is nice.

In terms of the game snooker really needs either ding or trump to win the final. Both could be the faces of the future of snooker. While higgins and williams are both great players, they arent the people who will lead snookers revivial in terms of popularity.

i really want trump to win, but i dont think he will. with the best of 33 frames to over come and the fact he is some what inexperienced (at least at the world) i think he will start well then fade away. i also expect dings safety play to be slightly better, witch could turn out to be very important.

Some of my fellow Scots have been bemoaning the pro-Trump commentary (which I have noticed) But its justified. Higgins got away with blue murder, and possibly only got off with his misdemeanours for the sake of the sport itself. I honestly do think that Higgins is in the top 3 snooker players of all time, but he's still a corrupt f**ker.

Ronnie has refused to sign a contract with World Snooker meaning he cant play in any tournaments this season.
