it was nowhere near that bad...

it was fucking awesome!

yes, the arena/camp split is always a little annoying, but that is the way of most festivals. yes, people were checked for alcohol when entering the arena, but i walked through with a plastic bottle of wine in my pocket every time.

the campsite catering and activity tents were some of the best i've ever experienced, and the moan about bad language being used in front of the kids is just petty.

admittedly, there were some problems with the toilets, and more portaloos were brought in throughout the weekend.

my main gripe is that for some bizarre reason, we were not allowed to enter the arena until the bands started playing at 12 o'clock!

the bar and food prices were the same as any other festival, and it was certainly not an exercise in money-making. and to write a whole paragraph on a 'bad taste' t-shirt is frankly ridiculous.

i saw no bad behaviour all weekend, no aggression or harsh words, just thousands of people having a bloody good time.

and yes, some of the bands may have been a little obscure to a casual listener, but i found at least ten that were absolutely incredible.

i will definitely be going back next year, and i'm sure the 'issues' raised by that reviewer will have been attended to.

    • 1. Baby Dave - Billy 2. A - Prang   Not really got round to listening to many more in May so not really fair to vote but shoutout to EPs from Bleech 9:3 - Bleech 9:3 & Villanelle - Measly Means
    • Guitarricadelafuente was bloody brilliant tonight. This is going to be a very Spanish focussed year for me. Rusowsky dragging out Las Ketchup on Saturday has the potential to be a Prima magic moment.
    • £112 for standard entry. No thank you.
    • Meanwhile Gracie Abrams is £92 for the cheapest with the average price around £160 for lower tier and £103 standing.   First time in a while I've gone from a definite yes to a definite no on price alone.   Amble was £31 this morning.
