How do you cross logues if there is only one of them?

Just some more guessing....

"dia" is Greek for "across" or "through", not "two". So I'd 'guess' that it's about getting a logue across. Not the corruption 'cross' that you used because of your wrong starting presumption (of wanting to prove yourself right, and not actually considering what was in front of you ;)).

And I'd 'guess' that the reason that 'dialogue' is commonly but wrongly thought of as two or more is because of 'monologue'. I'd 'guess' that monologue is a far newer word, because any society would need a word for referring to something which was said (by one or more people) a long long time before they'd need a word for just one person banging on about something.

So I'd guess it's the existence of monologue which has lead to a presumption of dialogue being about two people speaking.

Day 3 in the worn first thread household and after abandoning the chicken and egg exchange over sense and sensation, worm and Neil turn instead to having a dialogue about dialogue whilst greenfairy pokes fun from the side.
