A few years ago I was working at Reading on a stall selling footwear. Lost count of the number of people coming in barefoot because they'd had their shoes nicked crowd-surfing. It was well good for business

I saw The Queers last night. They only managed eight or nine songs. The bouncers were being pricks earlier on at the all day punk gig at the Admiral and squaring up to folk. People took the piss crowd surfing/rafter hanging and pulled the middle rafter and lighting rig thing down.

It was quite funny, even if I'm never likely to see the Queers again and only ever saw, possibly, one of their shortest sets ever.

I`ve never experienced this moshin caper, but from what I`ve seen of it... its certainly not my cup of tea.

I like to be in space to freak out and to avoid banging into others when I`m lashed/greened so I now just go wherever I can find. At festivals, I also tend to piss on fences and behind things so prefer to be near "my spot" so I can sneak off.

Each to his own eh.. but I must say, I cannot understand why people just stand at gigs /fests.

We went to see Joe Bonamassa at The Sage Gateshead and i was horrified to find it was all seated.

Nobody moved!... It was rude of me to stand at my seat cos the people behind couldn`t see...so I sneaked to the aisle and done me freakin there... but was threatened with eviction by the stewards.

He (Bonamassa) seen this and vented his frustration at playing to 3000 stiffs.

i think a lot of punters go to gigs just to mosh.... they barely care what's going on onstage, as long as it encourages moshing

I've never been into the whole moshing thing but I really like a good, hard boogie. Kind of first row back from the mosh pit or right down the front/just far enough back to dance does me.

Bands, The Sage and the punters need to take into account that The Sage is a seated venue. It was perfect for The Earlies when I saw them there but I'd never go and see Gogol Bordello there.

I've never been a mosh/aggressive dancer type, but I do like to get down towards the front and have a bit of a pogo.

Sometimes at gigs I want to be able to get close enough to see the whites of their eyes... I dunno, it feels like you're more a part of the gig that way. I can't see the band enjoying it (and therefore being shit) if they can't tell the crowd is enjoying it.

I love the start of this video (excuse the artist), it just looks great. There's a Limp Bizkit one that looks as good, if not better, but I'm loathe to post that because someone died in a crush during that gig.

See that uppy downy stuff to me is moshing. Maybe with a bit more aggressive dancing. People aare talking about how moshing is done in circles - surely that a circle pit. That's a different kettle of fish.

Anyhoo,I have been known to mosh and get involved in a circle pit. Not for me anymmore, to be honest they weren't really for me then... I prefer to stand and see the band with a beer

nah, circle pit is where you literally run in a big circle before hand. then when the song kicks in it amounts to a moshpit. for me anyway.

I used to enjoy a good bit of moshing when I first started going to gigs. As I've gotten older, it seems that it's become unacceptable for girls to be in the mosh pit

That said, a lot of the time now, I don't join in with the whole moshing thing because it's impractical - I've usually got a shoulder bag on me, and if I were to take that in with me, it'd get caught on arms and whatnot and I'd create a huge tangle. However, when I'm reasonably intoxicated and I hear a song I really, really like, I won't hesitate to throw my bag at one of my mates and dive in head first and man it up. There's just a rush, it's so energetic and so much fun.

As for simply jumping up and down, I don't care for that much. Gets boring, makes my legs ache.
